It is official -- the DMN is done with the Rangers
The much rumored merger of the DMN and S-T sports coverage is now official...as of February 1, the S-T will stop covering the Stars and Mavs with beat reporters and will just run the DMN's stuff, and the DMN won't cover the Rangers, opting instead to just run the S-T's stuff.
So, for us Rangers fans, we are down to just 1 newspaper providing us news. This is disappointing.

I was thinking for starters, pay minimum wage to a few employees, before building up a base.
I’m taking Venture Planning and will get back to you on that. Adam is entrepreneurial and would pony up for what truly matters: Texas Rangers Baseball.

Any word on Evan Grant?
Haven’t seen him anywhere.. even on the Cowboys beat. I worry that he is on the way out, as he did not show up on the DMN blog during Michaelgate.

That was exactly
what I was going to ask. I have not seen his byline in the newspaper for any sports story in at least a month. And he has not blogged either. I wonder if he has gone the way of Kevin Blackistone and Ed Bark and has taken some kind of buyout. Hope not. He’s a good dude.

Since we're on the topic of Young
Can’t we get him to fork over some money to save the DMN Rangers beat, so Young can get his name out there for other teams to trade for him?

Sports isn't the only thing that the newspapers are sharing...
I saw on WFAA that they were doing that with other features. Sounds like to me that eventually there will be a total merger.

Clearly,
the wrong paper got the Ranger Coverage. The Morning News had better coverage and more impartial columnists. I always thought the Fort Worthless Star-Telegram was just that, worthless…

Just a thought.
What are the papers going to do when the only good team in town is the Rangers? Seems like the other clubs are sliding backwards while the Rangers seem to have a positive building experience coming up.
Maybe they’ll be like all the “fans” and come back when we win.

Yet nothing about Ranger management
and how’s they’ve been able to take a top-10 sports market team to the point where the only major metropolitan newspaper doesn’t want to cover them anymore.
The DMN is still covering the Stars, the Cowboys, and the Mavs.
Yet it’s the fault of the DMN. How naive.

Meh.
The 40 Trumps All!!!
I don‘t know you who you are. I don‘t know what you want. If you‘re looking for me to be a man and move to third base for the good of the team, I can tell you, I don't have man parts. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills acquired over a very long career of being a horrible piece of shit fucking douche bag, skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you trade me now, that will be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you. But if you don‘t, I will look for you, I will find you. And I will throw a gigantic hissy fit in the media.

Thanks for your thoughts; I am out here and alive
Great LSB Community:
Just wanted to make an appearance and say thanks for all your support in recent months. I haven’t been able to say anything and still can’t say much. I want you to know, though, that I’ve read every word you’ve written and I’ve been truly moved by your support. The great thing for me about this blog is the ability to get the pulse of really fervent Rangers fans and toi be able to interact with them. Believe me, we will be in touch. Not sure where the newspaper business is going these days; it’s a scary environment out there. But I do believe in my heart that the community of Rangers fans out there is significant and it grows and it deserves strong quality and lots of variety when it comes to the coverage of their favorite team.
Your thoughts have been taken deep into my heart. Thanks.

Thank you, Evan...
…with a cousin in the newspaper business and him trying to explain to me the case of the DMN / ST, I don’t think any of these newspaper guys understand that this world does not revolve solely around the Cowboys. I am a Texas Ranger fan and proud of it. I look to several avenues for news on the team and losing the one with an inside track to the team, is ludicrous. It would never happen with the Cowboys, Mavericks, or probably even the Stars. I guess they feel as though we, as Ranger fans, are used to getting the short end of the straw and we won’t know any better. Well, they are wrong. We are the first to recognize that we are “last to know when it’s raining, but the first to die in the flood”. I’ll be looking for the “Grant me some time in Arlington Blog”.

Hopefully you land on-line as the baseball reporter for the South / South West. It hurts as a Ranger’s fan to see another avenue of information close while knowing that the fans will still be stuck with Galloway as the standard byline for Ranger’s news.

Quick
If you live in Dallas proper, you know the DMN has a daily free newspaper called Quick DFW which is portions of articles from the big newspaper plus stuff on local goings-ons such as concerts, restaurant and bar type articles. Anyways, I noted that beginning the last week of December Quick went from daily to weekly.
More troubling signs.
