Podcast being recorded Monday
Jamey, Ted and I will be doing a podcast on Monday night.
Obviously, the Michael Young thing is the big story.
But if there are any other questions or topics you'd like for us to field or talk about, feel free to email them in to us by clicking here.

Have you heard anything about Michael Young wanting to be traded?
Also, is Jeff Zimmerman throwing off a mound yet?

just so you don't shirk this responsibility
at least try to come up with possible trade scenarios.
It’s really easy (and probably most accurate) to say nobody wants him but that’s not really fun. I thought the Dodgers trade scenario was somewhat plausible. There has to be more right?
And, I bet Hicks can subsidize the contract for a small enough number that it still makes sense to trade him for a young 3B but large enough subsidy that its a good contract for another team.

How come...
Josh Hamilton doesn’t throw a damned fit when he comes in and sees Ron Washington has penciled him in to play Right field some random night in August? I mean, Josh motherfucking Hamilton is a centerfielder. He has earned that spot with his hard work and dedication. Why is the outfield an anything goes type of deal but the infield is suddenly a part of some sacred baseball code where there is a hierarchy of importance?

Do...
shortstops look at the third baseman and think, “God, I get so much more pussy than he does.” And then the second basemen comes over and says, “Do you see our first basemen over there? What a prick.” and then they laugh over at the first basemen all while the shortstop is thinking, “Who the hell does this second basemen think he is coming over here to talk to me?” while the third basemen looks over at the first basemen and thinks, “I bet I could bang his wife if I wanted to.”

You know...
I think that makes sense.

Seriously...
…I’d like as many folks as possible to call Hitzges tomorrow, and Galloway, and whomever else, and ask them…
If the Rangers think Julio Borbon should be the starting CF’er next year, and want Josh Hamilton to move to RF, should they ask Josh first? And if he says “no,” should they just leave Josh in CF and forget about Borbon?
Or if Young agrees to move to 2B, and Ian Kinsler refuses to go to 3B or LF, and demands a trade instead…should they give in?

the first one
they would all answer resoundingly, “yes, the rangers should give in and forget about borbon”
I think anyway.
This all goes back to what I’ve been saying. The main cause of all the acrimony over Young is the perception of Young’s defense. If Hitzges thought that Young was only mediocre or that Andrus would be considerably better, he wouldn’t be so bent out of shape about it. Granted, he uses different reasoning to justify his position, but I think that is the underlying reason for everybody.
It’s the difference between thinking that management is incompetent and thinking that Young is being stupidly prideful. Also the reason that most here (and most in the blogosphere) only view this situation from one side.

so actually,
the Borbon/Hamilton situation would be a good indicator of that – assuming that they realized Hamilton was not that great in center and Borbon was really good.

How great would it be...
if JD went to Josh and asked him to move to RF now because Borbon is on the way. Cruz can play LF and Byrd can play center for a couple months and then Borbon and Andrus could both be brought up in July.
How big of a douche would MY look like if Hamilton went to RF permanently and didn’t say a damn word about it.

midseason rotation
I think we have a pretty good idea how the opening day rotation will look, but I’d like to hear you guys talk about your expectations for the rotation at midseason.
Which of the ML ready young guys (Hurley, Harrison, Feldman, McCarthy, Nippert) do you expect to stick as starters all season, and when do you expect Holland/Feliz to break in? And when those guys do get the call, what kind of debut do you expect?

2010
I’d like to hear/read a thorough intelligent analysis of the likelihood of this team being a true playoff contender knowing what we know today, making some reasonable assumptions about player future development and acquisitions (both those assumptions based on facts and team/player history).
By true playoff contender I mean an 88+ win team.

Excellent
I loves me some monkey stories.
This lead especially caught my attention: “Wildlife officials said a rhesus monkey known to throw feces when mad…”
And?
Who has 2 thumbs and is prone to a little poop-flinging when agitated?
This guy…
