Halos Heaven is scared about Manny coming to Texas
I don't know why this amuses me so much, since pretty much no one here thinks this is even a possibility, much less wants to be. Whereas the 'Rev' is losing sleep. Nice.

Good stuff.

they have some “interesting” posts on that topic
Unless Manny can make 34 starts and pitch 200+ innings in each of the next three seasons, this wouldn’t bother me at all. The Rangers continue to baffle me with their never-ending search for more bats. Josh Hamilton was great last year, but how would Edinson Volquez have looked in their rotation instead of, like, Jason Jennings’ corpse? They didn’t feel like paying Francisco Cordero, so they traded him in for two months of Carlos Lee in a sunken quest for a division title in 2006. Not pulling that trade could have saved them a year of Eric Gagne, but at least they got another bat, David Murphy, for him. And Kason Gabbard, he gave them all of 56 innings last year. They got a couple of bats for Teixeira, and Matt Harrison, who put up a healthy 5.49 ERA in 83 innings last year. He might be good some day, if they don’t give up on him and trade him for another bat.
Scout: He was a first-round pick right? Got a huge bonus?
KG: Oh yeah.
Scout: Well, he spent a lot of it on milkshakes.

You have to remember that Angels fans think that the minors leagues is essentially a mythical place where young baseball players go to fight Dragons.

hit post too soon
the jewel of the cordero/lee deal: the draft picks we recieved for lee
the jewel for the gagne deal: engel beltre
the jewel of the teixeria trade: feliz
in this guys mind:
jewel of the cordero/lee trade: no one
jewel of the gagne deal: murphy/gabbard
jewel of the teixeira deal: harrison – lets keep in mind that going by the BA rankigns the rangers #1 and #4 prospects this year and their #1 and #5 guys last year – but the jewel is harrison? along with saltalmalphabet, beau jones, harrison. so lets get this staright, somehow the teix trade lands us 4 guys who will PROBABLY be penciled into the rangers ml roster for a while (salty, harrison, feliz, andrus)
HA

that's pretty disturbing.
still, they find a way to get it done between scrappy minor leaguers and solid free agent acquisitions.

for Boston...
not that they’ll miss Beltre anytime soon, or that they ever would have missed Murphy or Gabbard, but wow was it worth that trade alone just to watch him suck the life temporarily out of the fan base

Now, why don’t you come back in a couple years after Vlads knees have given out for good, Lackey’s gone to FA and Torri Hunter’s inevitable decline begins.

too bad KRod’s not a memeber of the Angels anymore. He was almost too easy to pick on

It's good Kool Aid....really
Those comments over at Halos Heaven are priceless. They should be scared, but not of Texas signing that ego maniacal cancer Manny. They should be scared because the pitching is coming and the offense is already here.
“Every time I see a shot of Nolan Ryan sitting in the stands at a Rangers game…
…I shudder. They’re going to catch on. They can’t HELP but catch on.”
I’ve been a Rangers fan for a long time, and never has there been such an emphasis on pitching and defense. Bringing in Nolan was the start of a new era for the Rangers. No more excuses like the heat and RBiA being a hitter friendly park. We’re in the shadows right now but it wont be long before we dislodge the Angels from the top spot in the west, possibly for years to come.

I'd argue that naming Jon Daniels as GM was the start of a new era for the Rangers.
