PrintSo yea all those annoying commercials about the switch ..you thought they were over right ? Wrong. The Senate passed a bill today which delays it until June 12th yippee. So now those of who are local get to watch channel 4 and others oversell this whole thing like its the 2nd coming of Y2K every news cast. Link to the article

The gov’t ran out of the coupon’s to subsidize the switch. I mean heaven forbid people pay $40 to get a converter box…

the government regulates all kinds of things about how we watch tv and every other form of communication. It’s $40 fucking dollars, people. Forgo one family trip to fucking Golden Corral and get the damn converter box. It’s just not that complicated.

There have been free coupons available for a year...
So, basically, anyone who would be affected by this cutover are either (a) too stupid to have seen any of the commercials that practically shoved the coupons at them, (b) too lazy to get off their asses and complete the coupon process, or © too hopelessly dependent on handouts to fork over their own $40 after having failed tests a & b.

The difference is
there’s no monthly service fee involved here. This is like saying “hey, we’ve been broadcasting better signals for the past five years, but just in case you don’t have a digital antennae or other digital signal, we’ll give you a coupon so you can buy a cheap antennae for free or a nicer one for less money”.
Yeah, the government sure screwed a ton of people on that one.
It's worth the money though, if you're still using an analog TV
I got one for my TV just this past week, and the difference in picture is amazing. It doesn’t, however, really help in picking up stations you couldn’t really get very well before (in fact, for example, where I could barely get CBS to come in before, the digital box in fact can’t pick it up at all… of course, I do need a new antenna. Badly.)

I got a new tv, and antenna.
The picture is way better, but the only thing I hate is that the picture seems to mess up a lot. With the analog it never messed up but the picture wasn’t as good. It’s like I’m having to deal with the issues of satellite without actually having it.
