Looking back
Remember "Rangers or Robbers," the angry blog that existed for a while in 2007?
Yeah, it appears to still be dead.
But it is nevertheless amusing to go back and read this angry rant about the awful 2007 deadline deals that sent Eric Gagne, Kenny Lofton, and Mark Teixeira away.
Our faithful correspondent gave Jon Daniels a D+, and apparently would have given him an "F" except for the one good aspect of any of the trades -- Kason Gabbard.

Probably the same
Except for Harrison, who is now an established AL starter. Andrus and Feliz are still just prospects
Harrison...
Is he an “established” AL starter? He had a nice season last year, no doubt, but what do you think he does this year? I vote for implosion.

Ok...
I’ll allow that. I wish both of them would come out and post sub 4 ERAs, I just don’t see Gabby doing anything, and I think Harrison gets found out pretty quickly this year. I’d love to see him keep up his pace from last year though, it would take a lot of pressure off the back end of the rotation.

I might be in the minority here
But I think Harrison will be a decent inning eater and #3-4 type starter this season. His peripherals improved dramatically as the season went on and he really did a solid job the last two months of the season. I think Harrison, McCarthy and Cruz might make Daniels look pretty good this coming season.

I like how the last post he made was trying to get people to sign up

"Hacked"?
Noone goes around hacking random baseball blogs….. Or barely any websites at all. This isn’t the movies.
Those sites do work, if you get people to say up with your reference ID you do get stuff, I have no problem believing he’d try that. Hes in the comments days later talking about it..
the preceding post was a great success.
Given the timing...
I’m not suggesting someone employed a code-heavy barrage at the guy’s blog because all it would take is one technically savvy person (or someone who knows the guy’s password).
You think it’s a coincidence that it was his last post?
by NoNameOnCard on Jan 27, 2009 10:44 PM CST up reply actions
Any web host and blogging service would allow you to reset a compromised password instantly
Whats more likely.
Someone who wanted to spam an electronics scheme went to a fairly low traffic rangers blog and figured out the password so he post his link while pretending to be the host saying he was taking a blogging break…. and he then changed the password so the blog owner couldnt delete it (which usually requires the email account) and returns days later to make comments on the article… and the site owner then made no attempt to easily reset the pass and continue blogging and let his site die just like that.
or
He spent a lot of time on a blog for half a season but wasn’t getting anything for it or getting more than a few comments per article and decided he was going go stop as many many blogs do. Rather than just disappear he wants to get a free playstation 3 out of it and posts his ref id for that program.
so yes, I do think he would post that.

The thing that always amuses me with Gabbard is that he pitched a pretty good game against us two weeks before he was traded over.
I remember thinking he was going to be the shit.
...Snoop Doggy-Dogg... Ya need to get yourself a jobby-job.
I was pretty high on him last offseason
And I still think he will have a decent ERA in whatever innings he pitches. His first few starts before the sexson incident were good ERA wise.
Ive just realized that even when he is healthy that he won’t go deep enough into games to be a good starter.. and he’ll keep getting injured.

I was still buying into the Jamie Moyer comps all through ST last year
But the hope I had that he’d turn out to be a reliable back-end starter faded quickly. That’s why I’m kinda leery of Matt Harrison still, since he kinda fits the same soft-tossing lefty profile Gabbard did/does (albeit, Harrison hasn’t had multiple arm surgeries, which bodes much better for his future).

OT, but did anyone listen to Galloway & Co. on 103.3 at all last summer?
They had an intern there who they put on air occasionally, who I work with now at KTCU. He had nothing but positive things to say about Grandpa Urine and the others.
Just found it funny to hear so many compliments and Randy Galloway in the same sentence.

I don't think it has the same cult following as those shows
but its still pretty popular. Its hard for people to get super into a show like House that doesn’t focus only on an overall story arc throughout the season.
By 2028, Mark Teixeira will be in the HOF.
-The Outlaw
ive liked the stretches where it did have more of an overall arc
Like with Vogler and Tritter.. some of my favorite parts. Though people i’ve talked to seem to disagre.
And yeah, its not amazingly popular.. but its fairly popular and when it does get mentioned its usually in a positive light.
Beyond the first season Heroes may still be popular but it gets bashed all the time. Lost was pretty heavily criticized during stretches of season 2/3 before it seemed to redeem itself in popular opinion with the season 3 finale and season 4.
House doesn’t get as much love but you don’t see many people criticize it either.
the preceding post was a great success.
Heroes...
Man, I was a big advocate during the first season, the second and third have been really bad, but they seem to be trying to do the same thing Lost did, which is refocus on the main characters and iron out a lot of the plot lines that have gotten totally out of hand. I’m going to start watching it again this upcoming Monday, and I’m putting it on waivers for 3 shows. If it doesn’t totally turn around I’m done with it. I stumbled onto House bc of my girlfriend this summer and can’t stop watching it.

I totally ditched Heroes for good sometime early in season 2.
I was totally jazzed after season one, but dear god did they take a great high-concept idea for a serialized drama and just screw it right in the butt with something cold and metallic.
I can’t even describe how bad that show got, and there was no gradual decline to it.
It was like, Season One: Good.
Season Two: The worst piece of non-Eastwoodian shit of the past 10 years.

Not serious, but
Are you the author of the Rangers or Robbers stuff? I agree with most folks being acute critics of just about everything except their own work. The piece linked was not badly written, not bad at all. But the opinions, which we all have, and can be wrong with ‘em, were pretty off kilter in 2007. That they are laughable now can’t really be a surprise.

So Mickey Rourke and Chris Jericho just got into an imaginary shoving match on Larry King.

OMG! Did Jericho come out to the Y2J Walls of Jericho song?
And did Mickey Rourke address the ridiculously disturbing (yet awesome for him) issue of this?

Is Chris Jericho in any way still connected to Vince McMahon
This sounds like a bit set-up by McMahon to draw interest in his cream puff of a franchise.

And....
Here you go.
Rourke has signed to wrestle WWE superstar Chris Jericho at Wrestlemania 25 in Reliant Stadium on April 5.

If it's as good as the Marine then we're all in for a treat.
Talk about a cerebral drama of the highest order.
Some movies just teach you so much about the human condition.

How could you not love that movie
Cena’s like the Terminator in that thing.
By 2028, Mark Teixeira will be in the HOF.

Heh, I never saw it.
It had one of my favorite cheesedick action movie trailers of all time.
It was so rap-metally it wasn’t even funny.
Let the bodies hit the floor indeed, Mr. Cena.

You need to see it
Its one of the worst action movies of all time. I watched it with some friends and we couldn’t stop laughing the entire time. Halfway through the movie, you also will start feeling that the people who made the movie knew it was terrible and just kind of rolled with it.

I feel guilty for thinking this
but how ironic would it be if Rourke has a heart attack during the match?

heh, i wouldn't be surprised if it "happens" as part of the act.
the preceding post was a great success.
We pretty much figured this out in one hour.

Trying not to give away too much of the movie
but “Ram” had heart issues that would affect him in the ring.

Gotta hand it to Rourke though.
Finally catches a break… now he’s doing whatever he can to stay in the public eye.
...Snoop Doggy-Dogg... Ya need to get yourself a jobby-job.
I can't decide if he's super awesome in a train-wreck-of-cool kind of way, or if he's simply one of the most annoying Hollywood douches going.
I’m really on the fence about it.

A really good actor who is probably a
world class douche.
Very good in Diner (founder of “The Popcorn Trick”) and in Pope of Greenwich Village.
