Happy birthday, Charlie Hough

Happy birthday to Charlie Hough, who turns 61 today.

I always thought Hough looked like my grandfather.  Not the jarrin' grandfather, but the other one.

Where’s Charlie plaing this year? You guys think that there’s room in Texas’ rotation for the ole knuckleballer?

Probably

would have led the staff in IP and wins last year.

Good for the kids or not

I always appreciated the sucking down of Pall Malls ’tween innings.

II always liked

pictures of him smoking and drinking beer. He is an inspiration to pitchers everywhere to learn a knuckler.

My friend Danny asked

Charlie Hough one spring training how he kept the knuckles tough enough to last through a season and he replied ‘Pig Toughener.’ Not sure what that is but I want some. And it was at that spring training that we came up with a good cheer for when the Houghster was on the mound….‘Perplex ’em Charlie!’

Happy Birthday, Charlie

Some of my earliest memories of the Rangers are of him pitching that knuckler. I always thought is was cool when he and Nolan were pitching. Bunch of old geezers in the rotation!
