Can we have a moratorium on the JD bashing?

I am relatively new to the LSB community so a fanpost might be a bit premature and I think this sentiment has often been expressed but I just want to get this off my chest. It's just the same tired arguments, Young, Gonzalez, Danks, Galarraga, yada yada yada over and over again.

Star-divide

I remember being unsure but excited about the Young trade. In hindsight a bad trade, really bad even, but it happened. Then the Danks fiasco and most Ranger fans were longing for the Melvin days of yore. Galarraga, I don't blame him too much for. I'd like to know how many were protesting leaving him off the 40 man at the time, if you were among those then your criticisim might have some merit, but to the rest that piled on only after they saw Galarraga's season should shut it. I'll admit I was dissapointed and not sure if JD was the right man for the job. Then July 2007 happened, as it has been well documented, no need to rehash specifics. Great drafts and Latin signings too. To me the fact that he has turned what was one of the worst farm systems in the majors into the BEST, Oakland be damned, in such a short period is nothing short of amazing. This guy has done the best with what he has to work with under penny pinching Hicks.JD has stayed strong this offseason, and I believe he got the best package he could for Laird. Since this offseason has been so dull I guess we have to get entertainment somewhere and the JD debates about past trades and who he's an errand boy for used to be somewhat entertaining but it no longer remains so.LSB these last couple months has been like reading the same book every day with the news out there, save for the comical Manny/Sheffield/washed up all-star to Texas rumors. Reading the same (no)news about the  Rangers every day is dull. Reading how JD screwed X,Y,Z trade is beating a dead horse, and I find beating already deceased animals highly offensive. I don't think JD pays attention to the haters who have no clue what is actually going on, he's too much of a pro, but I believe he will have the last laugh when he puts together the roster that brings the World Series trophy to Arlington. So for the New Year can we look to the bright future instead of rehashing a dark past?

Obviously You're New!

There’s been a moratorium on JD Bashing on LSB since he was hired.

I'm just killing time until I'm reincarnated.

Well, I'm giving you a rec

Not because the majority of us here haven’t hashed this out and concluded this already, but because you’re the first newcomer in awhile to come here and suggest the same thing.

Now lets hope you’re not just another HH sock puppet (not accusing you, but these days that seems to be what the majority of any “newcomers” are).

Thanks...

Well yeah man, I expected to get some crap, not sure what a “HH sock puppet” is though. I hope I’m not one since it seems negative.

HH (hurlerhurley) is kinda the blog drunk (literally, unfortunately)

He likes to create new user accounts and post under them.

Ahh...

I like some whiskey every now and then, but I learned the hard way in my younger days that alcohol and computers together just aren’t a good idea. So, I’m not a HH sock puppet, but I do find the term “blog drunk” hilarious.

Heh

Well, welcome aboard then. Be sure and check out DShep’s LSB almanac and GoET’s users guide to LSB, they’ll get you up to speed a bit on all our quirks and everything.

Thanks for the welcome DJ. I had no intention of breaking any kind of LSB protocol. I live and breathe the Texas Rangers, like I assume everyone on this site does, and they mean a whole lot to me. I wish I had known about this site sooner because it helps fill a void when there is no Rangers baseball. The fact that I have had an account for 3 months makes me no less or more of a fan than you, and I think deriding me by calling me idiotic is a little harsh. I have a right to my opinion as you have a right to yours. I’m not here to make enemies, I’m just excited to talk Rangers baseball and maybe one day I’ll bring something to the table you don’t find so idiotic.

I don’t take it to heart though, I just don’t see the point in name calling. This is the very first blog I have ever felt compelled to make a membership with because its so cool to have an outlet like this with so many other passionate Ranger fans. I’ll take the bad with the good.

For some reason, the title of this post made me think of the “LEAVE BRITANY ALONE!” sobbing video on youtube.

From my understanding,

anybody who tries to discuss anything other than the fact that Baseball Prospectus has rated our system #1 is a troublemaker.

no the JD bashing won’t end and why should they? Until our awesome farm system, that I give JD a ton of credit for building, starts producing on the major league level, I’m gonna continue to criticize him for his sucky early trades.

Probably

a good middle of the rotation guy. I don’t know if he would have ever been a true top of the rotation pitcher.

Danks

needs to put up another sub-4.00 FIP in order to be a truly dank TORS.

The projections have him above 4.00 for next year, fwiw.

Gallaraga

I am a big JD fan, and dont bash him, but to tell us we cant bash him if we where on board when it happened is rediculous. I remind you its not OUR job to evaluate talent, its JD and the scouts he is responsible for! So even if we were ALL on board it is there JOB to not make that mistake, we are just fans, and bloggers.

when the rangers win a playoff game

that sound fair. until then he’s fair game – along with the owner and the manager.
