Today in LSB history
2 years ago today, Tony Romo dropped the snap on a chip-shot FG in Seattle, and I was sad.

that game
What hurts about that game is that while I was sad when it happened, I was very optimistic about the future of the team. With Romo’s emergence, I was sure that they would be a perennial playoff squad and stood a chance at making it to the Super Bowl within a season or two. We all know how that has turned out. Now I just don’t know what to think about them.

Will the Mavericks lose to a bad, 8 man Clippers team at home?

Mavericks rumor
From Rotoworld:
The Mavericks and Raptors are discussing a trade that could send Josh Howard to Toronto, according to Hoopsworld.com.
DeSagana Diop and Antoine Wright could also be involved, with Dallas getting Andrea Bargnani and Anthony Parker in return. The deal seems to make sense for both teams, though Toronto would likely be taking on too much salary for the deal to go through exactly as proposed. Stay tuned for updates. Jan. 7 – 2:09 am et

family memories
I was at my parents’ house watching with them and my young niece who was visiting from Arizona on her first ever solo trip. When Romo bobbled the snap, I thought OH, NO, then I thought YES as it appeared he might run it in for a TD or 1st down. Then I unfortunatey screamed some not so nice profanites at the television (I’m usually very mild-mannered in person). I was so dizzy with anger that I immediately left.
I’m sure my niece still thinks I’m some sort of dual-personality lunatic.

Note the accurate prediction from yours truly about ...
Bill being gone and Owens staying. Of course, my feelings about Owens have mellowed quite a bit since then.
Bill was gone no matter what.

Yeah, you aren't going to get a quality coach,
who wants input into player selection, staying with Jerrah Jones long. I’d expect a string of Chan Gaileys, Wade Philips, and, obviously, Dave Campos.
Get off my lawn.
Maybe we can find a John Harbaugh type.

I missed him telling me
that no high school pitcher would ever produce after I was going on about taking Drew Meyer instead of Kazmir, or his neocon nuttiness.
Get off my lawn.
you know what's amazing...
I have been a pretty die hard DFW sports fan since I was first aware of sports (late 80’s). Now, perhaps it is simply because I am getting older, have a job and a wife, etc, but the Mavs 1-2 punch to the gut in the ‘06 and ‘07 playoffs, and the Cowboys recent stretch of three years of late season unraveling has left me noticeably numb to their doings.
Sure, I follow their transactions and am generally aware of their games, but I can’t remember the last time I sat attentively and watched the entirety of any of their games, or actually got upset when they lost. This is from a kid who cried (when he was far too old) when Leon Lett slid into the ball in Thanksgiving of ’93 and whose walls didn’t contain anything other than DFW sports memorabilia until college (save for an "American Beauty" movie poster and Jenny McCarhty and Carmen Electra posters from middle school).
.
I too am numb to sports
throw in my college being incredible at being mediocre and it doesn’t bother me like it used to.
I do have the healthy obsession over the Rangers though. If I made it this far, I doubt it will go away.
