I hope that was the last game
we have to see Jones at 1st base.
I hope it is the last game we see Jones.

Unless Davis has recovered from his hamstring, it won't be.
Hank is 7 runs below a zombie replacement at first base. Do you realize how terrible that is? Zombie’s can’t think, they’re slow, and they’re often ejected from the game for eating opposing baserunners’ brains. - Ben quantifies Hank Blalock
Waash said in the pregame that
he had no choice but to play Jones at 1B today. Hopefully Blalock will be back tomorrow.

I would think
Vizquel or German could do a better job of playing 1st than Jones.
I would think thay

So we agree..
a giant "_____________ " could place first better than Jones.

Having sex in a public restroom is the last place i'll have sex in.
Look at where they’re laying…on the fucking ground. I wouldn’t put my bare feet down in a public restroom.
Granted it’s a New Stadium,but that’s just fucking gross.
I won’t go into further details..

Look at Millwood's line
You fucking cocksucker.
Of course you would turn it on just in time to get your money, and then go ahead and give one more effort so you can end on a good note.
Just pay him all his money before the end of the season and tell him to get the fuck out.

Thursday is the best day of the week
The Office, Parks and Recreation, Community, and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
I don’t watch much TV, but Thursday sure makes me feel like I do. It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia is hands down the funniest show on TV.
Always sunny
Love the show, but this weeks episode was like a giant commercial for coors and dave n busters

Times is tough
The episode was hilarious. I nearly died laughing when Charlie explained how he recycled.
it gives the room that nice smokey smell

The show is obviously funny, but just not to me. I watched one or two episodes and eh.
I'm just goofin' new boot goofin'
The Office
Tivo recorded it the other day, so I figured, okay, I’ll watch it.
It was funny, but 12 minutes in, I had to stop watching it because it was so awkward and uncomfortable.

Yeah
I don’t. I couldn’t watch “Meet the Parents,” for example.

yeah... just that brand of comedy
I like it but sometimes it can go over the top and get really awkward and uncomfortable

Thursday is really THE night for television this winter.
It’s like there’s literally nothing else on any other day of the week but Thursday.

I'd give my nod to Community
The Soup is pretty high on my list, and Joel McHale does an even better job on Community.
community has been hilarious

That's.. just like.. your opinion, man.

Although I agree with the show being terrible.
I disagree to you thinking your opinion is actually the facts.

What? That's exactly what it is,it's an opinion. And my opinion is,is that the show is fucking terrible.
To each their own,like always.

Ya know
That’s where the whole “Baseball Jesus” meme started, people thought I came across too “matter-of-factly” with my opinions or something, which was never my intention.
I know it’s not really possible to discern tone through print, but some people get uppity about the darndest things.

Not really. Just the person you’re tagging along with is matter of factly.

It's nice to see CD...
finishing strong. Actually has that BA up over .230 now. It wasn’t long ago that he was flirting with .200. More importantly he has improved his K rate. I know many have stuck a fork in him, but it would be damn nice if he could end up being somewhere in between the player this year and the player he was expected to be by many this year. Especially since his defense at 1B is a definite plus now.
"The only good is knowledge and the only evil is ignorance."-Socrates
Don't be fooled by what Davis has done in the last week..
as of September 24 he was hitting .219 with a .269 obp.
What he does in the last 10 days doesn’t matter, he’s sucked dick for 99% of this season and is a big reason our season ends on Sunday.
"Dying ain't hard. It's living that's hard."
"Ranger players, especially veterans, weren’t surprised that Daniels couldn’t find a deal"
I think the entire offense is the reason our season is over
not because of one bad year by one player.
Davis
Not to start another Davis vs. Blalock argument, but:
Chris Davis: 232/280/441
Hank F: 235/277/462
"I cannot believe how fucking off base I was about Tiny E before this season. The Kid is great and is going to become a star."

Obviously
they both have sucked this year. At least we are definitely getting rid of one of them.

Since being recalled on August 25th
Davis’ line is .298/.331/.496 I could live with an .827 OPS from him in 2010.
He would be
a below average 1B.

I know people like to kiss it off because of CD's stretching/picking skills
And I think this number is somewhat erroneous too, but his UZR/150 is still -16. Just sayin.

uh...
A) Thats based on 11 games at 3b, its -2.4 at 1b this year and -1.3 for his career.
B) Stretching/picking skills are very legitimately important for a 1b.
the preceding post was a great success.
Whoops.
Looked at the wrong box, heh.

And like I said, I do think that minus is somewhat erroneous.
But it doesn’t appear that he’s some kind of savant over there either.

true
Still, I don’t think Davis’ glove comes anywhere close to offsetting his bat. He needs to put up an 850 OPS like an average 1B.

They're not perfect
And UZR isn’t the best one (I much prefer plus/minus, I just don’t have a Bill James subscription) but I don’t think you can act like they don’t have merit. I do think certain positions like 1B and catcher are harder to quantify than others though, which is why I tend to give Davis the benifit of the doubt despite the numbers.

The problem I have with defensive metrics
is that they all are based on assumptions. Offensive metrics are counting stats based on actual achievements…ie. the ball either went over the fence or it didn’t. Nothing to assume there.
