That’s a HUGE game for the Argies, right?

Snow Out
It’s a good thing the Twins new stadium isn’t open yet or they would have the same problem up there this weekend. The farther into October they push the playoffs the more they are going to run into this problem.

Nobody heaped more scorn upon the Rangers for releasing Padilla than him, right?
Wonder how hard he’s patting himself on the back right now.

You mean more than usual?
Hank is 7 runs below a zombie replacement at first base. Do you realize how terrible that is? Zombie’s can’t think, they’re slow, and they’re often ejected from the game for eating opposing baserunners’ brains. - Ben quantifies Hank Blalock

Well, his tRA is a lot better than Buehrle's
Which might have something to do with the fact that Buerhle hardly struck anyone out this year.
Danks has the edge in K’s and tRA, but thanks to his outstanding walk rate Buehrle has the edge in K/BB and FIP. Kind of odd, really.

And man, Gavin Floyd had a 4.5 WAR. That’s 16th among all MLB pitchers. Impressive.

So basically, from what I can tell Danks (despite having a down year)
Was less hittable (he did have career lows in BABIP and LD% allowed after all) and missed more bats, wheras Buehrle just didn’t walk anywone all freaking season. They put up fairly similar results, but you’d have to say that Danks was the more effective pitcher in getting those results this year.
Bottom line though, they both had damned mediocre seasons.

Bottom line though, they both had damned mediocre seasons.
Buehrle’s WAR of 3.4 was 17th in the A.L. among pitchers this year.
He was tied with Matt Garza, and a hair ahead of Scott Feldman.
VORP has Buehrle 11th in the A.L. (and Danks 12th).

Well, they where still somehow pretty meh in terms of tRA/FIP
I’m guessing most of the WAR/VORP comes from all the innings they racked up.

Holliday’s error will probably be blamed for taking the wind outta their sails, and perhaps it did… but the Cards offense just laid down and played dead tonight. Terrible showing in an elimination game, although Padilla was having one of his “pitch out of my mind” days.

Padilla
Clearly, all NL teams missed on him. He was worth a trade and no one wanted him. It’s funny how Carl Pavano and Padilla (two talented but inconsistent pitchers) helped their teams down the stretch. The Dodgers may have lost their Playoff run without Padilla. Randy Wolf scares no one!

Padilla
is one of those players that is great on a half year contract, but you’d hate to commit to him long term, just because he is a nut job.
