Heyman sees Lackey to Texas as a real possibility
Forgetting the obvious constraints that the ownership/financial situation would cause, does anyone else find it difficult to see Lackey coming back to Texas? It seems he has a pretty substantial dislike for the Rangers and some of their current players. I don't know, I just keep hearing all this speculation that it's "such a good fit cause he's from Texas" but I would just be surprised considering his history with the Rangers.
But if we offered the most money I'm sure all that history would just be a distant memory and we'd hear press conference full of quotes..."He's just a competitor" and "He's on our side now, we're not thinking about the past"....
Either way, just wanted to get people's thoughts on the reality of this happening and if it would cause a stir in the clubhouse (especially if our clubhouse leader Byrd is gone...)

I don't know
After reading that article, there wasn’t any source that suggested Lackey wanted to come to Texas; most of Heyman’s arguments were tied to the fact that Lackey grew up here and likes the Cowboys.
I’m also not so sure that the Rangers really need another high priced starter. Lackey looks like Kevin Millwood v. 2.0. For his career, Millwood has a FIP of 3.91, 7.03 K/9, and 2.78 BB/9. For comparison sake, Lackey has posted a 3.83 FIP, 7.20 K/9, and 2.64 BB/9. Obviously, Millwood’s numbers reflect a couple of subpar years with Texas. But when Millwood signed his contract with Texas, he was 31. Lackey will be 31 later this month.
With a good defense behind him, Lackey will probably post pretty good numbers for the next two years and then decline a bit. He is certainly an above average pitcher, but I’m not sure he will pitch like an ace. Is he worth spending 16 million a year? Honestly, if I had 16 million to spend this off-season, I would target Matt Holliday.

I want no part of Lackey here

If he comes here and heads up the rotation for a title run, I won't really give a shit
Hank is 7 runs below a zombie replacement at first base. Do you realize how terrible that is? Zombie’s can’t think, they’re slow, and they’re often ejected from the game for eating opposing baserunners’ brains. - Ben quantifies Hank Blalock

Feliz says his greatest thrill was striking out Boston Red Sox DH David Ortiz, one of his heroes. Yet, when he called to tell his parents, his mother had a request: Strike out New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez, too.
"So when I did that," Feliz says, "I told my mom, 'There you go. There's your present. Don't ask me to strike anyone else out, OK?'
