College Football thread 10/17
There are some other note-worthy games, but I imagine the majority of you are tuned into OU/Texas.
USC vs Notre Dame. As a fan of the Irish, I don't expect the team to come close to beating USC.
TTU vs. Nebraska
Iowa is currently underway against Wisconsin. 3-0 lead for the Badgers. I
VT vs. GT in an ACC showdown. I think I'm the only person in the world that despises teams that use the flex and wishbone.
On another note, Cincinnati beat USF pretty easily Thursday night. I wonder if we have teams in big conferences with multiple losses, how much consideration the Bearcats will recieve for the NC game.

Longhorns
very overrated this year.

I'd look for USC
to hang up at least 40 on ND today. Their defense imo is horrible. One of the worst I’ve seen this year.

It's really just their defensive line.
They get no pressure at all, which causes Tenuta’s blitzing schemes to fail. That leaves the secondary a lot of time to mess up their coverage. They have the talent (as usual) but they never seem to show it.
The one thing that pisses me off is that the Irish could easily only have 1 win and Weis could be gone. But no, they have 4 wins; 3 of them very close and Weis will probably stay.

ND needs to join a conference if they want to get better
the Big East is a pretty weak conference and ND could get more recruits to compete at a higher level. as it is, they are a program that used to be a large factor in the national scene. not so much now
A baseball game is simply a nervous breakdown divided into nine innings.

Get more recruits? Huh?
Notre Dame’s recruit rankings have been pretty much top ten since Weis took over. Hell, they had the #2 recruiting class in 06.

Go Frogs
A big showing against Colorado St. might start to close the gap against Boise after their unimpressive win Wednesday.

Quick fantasy question
NYG defense against the Saints
or NYJ defense against the Browns.
The Giants can be hit and miss on this game. NO is a high-powered offense, but if they giveaway the ball to the Giants, more points to me.
If the Saints score quite a bit of points though, the points will be minimal.

Jets
I don’t even think that’s a question really.

Well so far this year
the Jets have gotten 39 points overall compared to the Giants 66.

The Browns offense is TERRIBLE
Anderson was 2-17 last week.

Right, but I don't get points for scoring prevention
I get points for takeaways, defensive TD’s, and sacks.

Bad offenses
are more likely to turn the ball over than good offenses. I think that’s a pretty easy decision, but just my opinion.

But like you said.
The Browns only threw the ball 17 times last week. That means they ran the ball the other plays, and were on defense the majority of the games.
The way I see it, the Giants will have more chances to get those turnovers.
Last week they forced 3 fumbles.

Well ok. Why did you ask the question if you have your mind made up?

It's not made up
it’s still a problem for me. The risk of throwing the Giants D out there against a great offense could result in less than 5 pts. Same thing can be said for the Jets if they don’t force turnovers or get sacks.
by jdh90 on Oct 17, 2009 1:41 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Also there was crazy wind last week that made throwing the ball almost impossible
it’s not likely they’d only throw it 17 times again.

Purdue is leading OSU
23-7 with less than 4 minutes in the 3rd. Terrelle Pryor is being shut out.

OSU gets all the way to the goal line
only to come away with a FG. 23-10 Boilermakers.

To my surprise
Notre Dame comes out in the regular uni’s. No green jerseys.

Notre Dame ties it up against SC
7-7 Irish. Still, USC’s offense still looks too good.

10-7 USC. Irish haven't looked particulary good
lotta luck.

So tired of Tim Tebow.

Well
I use to like Florida when Chris Leak was there. Tebow is a good player but he is so overrated it is ridiculous.

One of the best teams under the radar in college football right now
is Texas Tech.

A&M really needs to start
figuring out who next year’s head coach is. They obviously made a mistake hiring Sherman, who has never really done anything anywhere.

I can't believe what happened to A&M yesterday.
Texas Tech made K-State (won 66-14) look like one of the most inept Division 1 teams I’ve ever seen so that doesn’t reflect well on A&M.
Tech should be 28 point favorite next week v A&M which scares the shat out of me because it is such a big rivalry game.
