Okay

I’m watching the Texans game.

Owen Daniels scores a TD.

They got to a commercial.

Come back from commercial, they show the Texans kicking the XP.

They go to commercial.

When they return, I assume we’ll have a kickoff, and then another commercial.

Bah. Stupid NFL

Really? I've never seen the commercial between the td and xp before....

He does.

He talks a lot of shit and he really isn’t that good. Just big, kinda like Shaq. Jacobs really doesn’t know how to shut his mouth.

The only reason he is good is because he is huge....

doesn’t matter though cause the Saints are beating the shit out of the Giants.

You think Shaq is only good because he’s huge?

What if I said I just hate the Giants and Jacobs is the reason.

Would that make you quit asking me questions? And I hate Shaq so my opinions are very biased.

I just don’t agree your statement, that’s all.

by cmkelly29 on Oct 18, 2009 2:59 PM CDT up reply actions

I think it does.

Being small isn’t necessarily a disadvantage, but being big seems to allow for more yards after contact as well as more carries in general.

Big, in this context, is 5-11/220lbs and above, though. I think if I were creating a running back in a lab, I’d come up with Cedric Benson.

so going purely off media sterotypes. dallas sucks because their three wins have all been against not very good teams. the giants and eagles have basically beaten the same list of non impressive opponents. The Cowboys two losses

One against the undefeated Denver when we had 2 goal to go shots to tie the game

And the other against the previously undefeated Giants when we giftwrapped 24 points I believe to them and they still had to kick a last second FG to win.

The Cowboys could easily be 5-0 right now just like they could be 1-4. They are just so damn inconsistent you don’t know which one will show up.

It wasn't that I didn't like it

I was just pretty meh about it.

Another great thing about the Coen Brothers…it was in one of their movies that I first saw Scarlett Johanssen. I was completely smitten immediately.

x

Since this has become a Coen Bros. subthread, I would like to add this:

I watched Barton Fink today (love Netflix streaming). Jesus, what a fantastic fucking movie. I renounce my prior attitude towards their movies. It’s clear to me now I hadn’t seen the best.

Nice NFL day

Giants, Eagles and Redskins all get humiliated.
Jets too though obviously they arn’t really relevant to the cowboys.
Nice to see some history with a 5 td quarter and 59-0 win for Brady which was at least entertaining…

woo.

the preceding post was a great success.

Everyone assumes Shanahan or Holgrem to be the next coach

But the stars may be aligning for Jeff Fischer to be available… isn’t he the one Jerry really wants?

by octoberty on Oct 19, 2009 4:40 PM CDT reply actions

Don't worry

Fischer has too much going for himself to waste time on the Cowboys.

Well

I know I’d want him more than either of those two. 1. Cowher and 2. Fisher.

by brettgardner on Oct 19, 2009 4:43 PM CDT up reply actions

That'd be interesting.

My God, there’s a lot of turnover there. Although I really don’t want to see them get on the right track. I’d rather see Cowher end up in Carolina, where he’d inherit the best running back tandem in the league, along with the pieces to make a sick defense.

Josh Mcdaniels is kinda good

Also Sean Payton.

Say, why isn’t there more crying in the DFW media that Payton didn’t end up HC in Dallas?

Wow, how enviable are Denver and NO, theyre going to win for years and years, moreso every season they get some defense. Wow, no better HC to have in football than McDaniels. You are going to win and win and win with that guy. This could be scary in Denver, I hope something can slow him down. He never really was slowed down that much in NE. I dont want Denver to become NE new. Fuck, hope his defense sucks sometimes or something.

Looks like Balt is feeling losing Ryan now too, weird, now they have a prolific offense and struggling defense.

Also

Childress, you know, he’s established himself as a top guy in my mind.

I dunno so much about their defense over there, though.

Conversely, Philly, I’m always a tad skeptical on them. Morningweg is the OC, always been good, but just a little vulnerable.

I tend to think Philly would probably be better off year in year out with Reid calling plays. They dont run those ruthless screens as much as they used to under Reid.

You thought Zorn was bad :rollin

What a disastrous franchise.

I’ve been thinking more about this, how Cowboys fans act like he Cowboys are such a debacle. You know, debacle are like, Detroit, and KC I think, who have lost like 27 of their last 29 games each or something absurd. 2-27, stop and think about that. Or St Louis, Or Tampa, or Tennessee.

Just think about that. That’s a debacle. Jerry Jones Cowboys in 2009 are far from it.

Looks like the odds are up, Cowboys 4 point faves on the Falcs. Thats about what I thought, I figured 3.

If ATL had blasted Chicago like they did SF, it would have been Falcs by 3. But they looked like a regular team against Chi, and homefield is just so big.

Anyways double huge IF we win that and Seattle, playoffs are downhill from 5-2. You’d have a better chance of making than missing.

BTW

I bet whatever line the Skins had, 10 points was added against them the minute this was announced.

Some NFL teams may be dumb, but a lot of fans and Vegas arent.

hmmmmmmm

from rotoworld per chris mortenson

The “significant offer” the Cowboys turned down at the trade deadline was for young tight end Martellus Bennett, according to ESPN’s Chris Mortensen.
The Bengals, who lost Ben Utecht (concussion) and Reggie Kelly (Achilles) in the preseason and have been frustrated by rookie Chase Coffman, are the ones that made the offer. After creating major hype with a big camp, Bennett has been a bust in the passing game this season. He has just four catches for 40 yards on the year.
