That's great for us
I always liked Johjima. I’m glad he’s gone.
That's why they call them business sox

The guys over at LL must be distressed
They really hate Rob Johnson.
Hank is 7 runs below a zombie replacement at first base. Do you realize how terrible that is? Zombie’s can’t think, they’re slow, and they’re often ejected from the game for eating opposing baserunners’ brains. - Ben quantifies Hank Blalock

Not so sure that's "good for us"
Johima opting out frees up Seattle 8million a year for the next two years.
Johima has not been that great of an offensive catcher the past two years and was only on the field for half the games this year.
Furthermore, they also used Rob Johnson down the stretch because they believed he “worked better” with their pitching. To me…if his offense stayed where it has the past two years, somewhere between a 600-700 OPS…he would have been a huge financial burden.
I bet the Seattle front office is counting their 16million dollar blessing right now.

Concur...
Hard not to be happy about this if you’re a M’s fan.

Yeah
And the good news is the guy who’ll replace him sucks too.

Yeah...
but he sucks for a lot less $.
The M’s will pick up a catcher this off-season. Perhaps they would like to talk about trading for a young catcher too?

It'd be nice
if we could pawn Teagarden off on somebody and get something in return.

Yalp.
Although trading a catcher would subject us for another season of Pudge and his old man skills.

We'd probably be better off
picking up another catcher off the scrap heap, but even Pudge is probably an upgrade over Teagarden. Teagarden is useless, and likely always will be.
