playoff ticket refunds

i searched but could not find any discussion on the cowlishaw statement that an email had been sent to those that purchased playoff tickets (the tickets in addition to the season tickets seats) that a refund would not be forthcoming until november.  obviously, the season ticket holders will get the money credited toward next season (as one option), but i am specifically addressing the extra seats.

1. if there was a discussion that i missed i apologize.

2. i did not receive an email.  i bought extra seats, spending $900+ - mostly from a debit card (mastercard linked to my checking account).

3. i thought that the team had said six weeks after the season originally.  that's mid-november, right?  is this really news, or is the email referenced the original email about purchasing playoff tickets?  i guess what i am asking is, "has anything changed?"

4. if the team has changed the refund date, can i file a dispute with my credit card company (bank) and get my cash back now?

i was planning on waiting until mid-november, but if the dates were changed AFTER i purchased tickets, i need the money as bad as the rangers need the money (well, maybe not THAT bad).

I thought it was originally 6 weeks after the end of the world series

Which would put it right around Christmas.

I don’t think you can file a claim with your bank or CC company since you did actually purchase the tickets and they do have a stated refund policy.

That sucks that you are out the money but that was a risk you, and everyone else who bought playoff tickets, took.

you missed my point

i understood and accepted the risk; however, if the refund policy was changed AFTER tickets were purchased, then the club would have violated the stated policy. under that scenario, i would feel that i would be entitled to file a claim. i agreed to the policy in place when i paid for the tickets. i did not agree to any subsequently unilaterally amended policies.

that said, it seems as though this was a lot of hype about nothing (boss told me about it after he heard it being discussed on the ticket). ticket + cowlishaw = trying to make story when there isn’t one there.

i think everyone knew the risk associated with buying the seats, but that’s the risk we agreed to. the team couldn’t come back and say that refunds will be given in 2045 or that they are giving away padilla jerseys in lieu of money, etc. you can’t change the rules. again, they didn’t change the rules (refund policy), it was a poorly written story creating the illusion that the team was somehow fucking the fans.

The only date on the form

that season ticket holders received was: “All requests for refunds must be received by December 1, 2009.” I have not seen anything that said when refunds would be made.

x

I bought Division Series tickets when they went on sale. I have not received a follow up email from the Rangers.

I went to the last home game of the season, and the ticket person gave me a form to fill out to mail back to the Rangers (in triplicate).

I scanned it into pdf, and uploaded it here so can see what it looks like. As oc says, you’re supposed to send them your tickets and form by November 30.

this was just a scheme

to recapitalize the club, they need the money more than I do right now.

Keepin it Classy Gentlemen

There is, in fact, a manly and lawful passion for equality which excites men to wish all to be powerful and honored. This passion tends to elevate the humble to the rank of the great; but there exists also in the human heart a depraved taste for equality, which impels the weak to attempt to lower the powerful to their own level, and reduces men to prefer equality in slavery to inequality with freedom.

Here's the text of the email I received on 09/30/2009

Thank you for purchasing tickets to potential American League Division Series games at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. As the Rangers have now been eliminated from postseason contention, your refund will be automatically processed within the next six weeks. However, if you wish to utilize the credit you now have on account with the Texas Rangers for a 2010 Rangers 10 Pack, we will provide you with a special bonus – a voucher valid for two Dallas Stars tickets, an $80 value.

Rangers 10 Packs provide savings up to 60% off 2010 individual ticket prices and are available in five different locations, starting at only $99 per pack. Each 10 Pack includes 10 vouchers, redeemable in any combination, for 2010 regular-season home games excluding Opening Day. You may choose to use all ten for one game, two for five games, or any other way you choose.

that's it?
As the Rangers have now been eliminated from postseason contention, your refund will be automatically processed within the next six weeks.

what a lot of hype bullshit over nothing.

cowlishaw is such a d-bag. what a horrible “journalist.”

this email states almost the refund policy in place at the time tickets were purchased – and actually provides a benefit to those willing to roll the money into 2010 tickets.

it was my understanding that tickets purchased online during the presale(s) would be automatically returned to the credit cards w/n six weeks of elimination. that seems to be confirmed by this e-mail.

what a complete loser.

thank you for posting this e-mail!

I emailed the season ticket office directly...

Here is the reply I got on 10/14

[JShoe] refunds are being processed currently. The time frame is up to 4-6 weeks from when we where eliminated for post season play. That day was Monday Sept 28. We should have all refunds processed by the end of this month. Thank You

I asked because I put them on my AMEX and was trying to decide if I needed to pay it all off this month or if the refund was going to hit this month… I guess we’ll see.

that is an

extraordinary fish in your avatar, but a more spectacular set of jugs helping you hoist up that fish. Nice catch on two, er…three, accounts.

No woman were hurt or injured in the typing of this statement. All women are/should be respected for more than their jug size.

Already got the refund

I got my credit card statement yesterday and the refund for all of my playoff ticket purchases (which were in a shockingly high amount) had already been applied to my account. I’ll complain as quickly as anyone if I don’t feel that I am being treated fairly as a season ticket holder, but I have absolutely no complaints about the speed with which the Rangers processed the refunds. Here’s hoping that at this time next year we won’t be worried about refunds because we are in the middle of a long playoff run.

Never got that email about free Stars Tickets...

I just called the guy who handles my mini-plan and told him to apply the credit to my account for next season. You’ll have to pry my mini-plan from my cold dead hands!
