So

6 early games, and at 1 p.m., only 1 of those 6 is still within 10 points.

Raiders run defense is horrible

they were able to beat Philly because Reid refuses to run the ball, but the Jets like to run and are pretty good at it. Oakland won’t be able to stop the Jets running game.

My boy...

just needs to get some playing time. He should be the starter in SF anyway.

I don’t think he will be great. However, if he can stay healthy, get a little protection from his O-line, and not have a different OC and offense to learn every year, he could be okay.

Does Phillips ever do something to punish the team for their penalties?

Don’t you mean Jerry, not Phillips?

Phillips doesn’t have the authority to do anything.

by Adam J. Morris on Oct 25, 2009 4:04 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Which is why....

I worry sometimes that Phillips, even though so many predict him to be gone by the end of the season, will still be here

Jerry knows he can control him. Why fire him and go to a coach that will want more control?

Bill Simmons: "I will tell you right now, if the Boston Red Sox traded Clay Buchholz for Justin Smoak, I will run around my neighborhood naked...celebrating for an hour. I love Justin Smoak"

by Smoak Some on Oct 25, 2009 4:07 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Or...

…he can just go get another puppet.

He can promote Jason Garrett. He can find some random coordinator that isn’t on anyone’s host list.

This is the owner who went from Barry Switzer to Chan Gailey to Dave Campo, briefly brought Bill Parcells in when the team was drowning and he needed a stadium built, then neutered Bill and ended up bringing in Wade.

He’ll axe Phillips to make him the fall guy for a 7-9 season, and then will find someone else who will be just as nutless.

by Adam J. Morris on Oct 25, 2009 4:10 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

True, but....

If this team gets to a 8-8 season or a 9-9 season, Phillips will still be here, with Jerry talking about “improvement”

Jason Garrett would be a horrible promotion. It seems he just gets outcoached every week on offense

Barber is depressing me

not that hes had good lanes to run through or anything.

the preceding post was a great success.

by DSheppard on Oct 25, 2009 4:27 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

that is really what is going on

but still, just run hard into the non existent gap. no dancing or sidestepping

Can anyone honestly explain to me what has happened to Marion Barber?

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

/end argument

Bryan Smith (12:17:17 PM PT): Justin Smoak and Josh Hamilton. The AL West might just have found their Bash Brothers, v. 2.0.

He sucked last year

He ran hard the first couple years when he was getting paid 4th rounder money then got a big contract and has sucked the last two years

Would it be ridiculous to start Felix and Choice

and have Barber back in his old role?

no

but his contract prohibits that. its stupid but it is what it is

You aren't gonna sit a guy who gets paid that much money till the 2nd half

Just like the Rangers will most likely start Kevin Millwood Opening Day next year when Feldman is probably the better choice.

He's also the type of running back...

…who has a short shelf-life, and is probably best used in smaller doses.

The problem started in that playoff game when they decided to start him instead of Jones, and he ran out of gas in the second half.

Do you honestly believe this argument?

Sometimes I get the feeling you just say things without thinking them through.

by brettgardner on Oct 25, 2009 4:30 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

He used to put his head down and plow people over

Over the last couple seasons hes started bouncing things outside alot more. Running out of bounds more. Is it just coincidence that it coincides with getting a big money deal? Maybe. But i’ve heard players before talk about having money and not putting their body on the line as much to preserve their shelf life and get all that money since contracts aren’t fully guaranteed

So that ATL+4 isn't looking like much of a lock right now is it?

i don't think I know better than Vegas

Its just some people looked at that and immediately thought it was a lock the Boys couldn’t win by more than 4 points. Either we’d win by 3 or less or ATL would come in and win. The Cowboys have played pretty damn well for most of this season. We are coming off our bye and playing at home. I think we win by 10+ actually

Weird

Always weird to me to see a Cowboy running back running a route.

I think, in all the years Emmitt Smith was a Cowboy, he never ran a true pass route. On passing plays, if he wasn’t blocking, he would either:

1) Go out into the flat, or
2) Act like he was blocking, then release over the middle about 2-3 yards beyond the line of scrimmage.

those flat plays

Already 6 Penalties for the Boys

Anyone want to take an over/under on 11 penalties for the game?
