this is what makes twitter lame
your title is all the description that is in the link. Lame ass crap. I love the in-depth analysis or even possibly a link to an article. Nah, Why do that, when one sentence will describe the whole story?

You are a douche.
What more do you need to know? How Acta and Shapiro engaged in intimate love making before Acta got the job? They thought he was the best candidate etc. and gave him the job. That’s it.

I don't need to know who the manager of the Indians is in the first place
who gives a shit about the indians and manny acta? I guess nobody does, or at least enough to write more than one sentence about him.

that's your prerogative
you run the site, but worthy of the front page? it’s about as worthy as every FA signing that will happen this winter. Of course, let’s hope the links to those go to more than just a twitter summary. Why even link this?

It was breaking news
There wasn’t an article yet.
Maybe the OP could go back and link the actual article once one is out there but theres nothing wrong with this type of link to breaking news

How is it equivalent to ever free agent signing?
There are 30 managers in MLB and only a handful of them come open every year. I’m pretty sure more free agents than that get signed. If you had said it was equivalent to a major FA signing (Teixeira, CC, etc), you’d probably be right, but I’m pretty sure those are worthy of front page news.
Geez dude, I’d just quit right now before you dig an bigger hole than you’re already in.

you would place Manny Acta, a manager in the same category
as Teixeira or any other player because there are fewer openings. Somebody really needs to think a little. FA signings are usually much more significant news than a manager who just left the worst team in baseball and now is going to the 2nd worst team in the AL and 4th worst in baseaball. Manager openings usually happen on very crappy teams, and I only care about those teams if they affect the Rangers significantly — ie AL West etc
AJM himself has been quoted as saying Managers don’t really have that much impact on the outcome of games.
And, my main point is not that it isn’t news, but that it is lazy freakin’ journalism. One sentence. Sure that may be all you have time for on the radio or whatever, but twitter seems to allow people now the ability to break news without actually providing any sort of coherent article. Why do we need sportswriters to do this? Can’t you just pay some crappy intern to give these great insights.

mind boggling cause he wasn’t a good hitter, just a good middle of the order bat that hit a lot of homers.

He also drew a ton of walks
And was a great OBP guy throughout his career.
by Adam J. Morris on Oct 25, 2009 6:31 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
And that could largely be due to opposing pitchers not wanting to pitch to him.
Say what you will but I don’t see him preeching patience at all.

Opposing pitchers don't want to pitch to Vlad
And yet he never walks.
The idea that guys only draw walks because pitchers are afraid to pitch to them is b.s.
And since patience was a huge part of McGwire’s approach, I’m not sure why it wouldn’t be part of what he’d advocate as a hitting coach.

I guess all I remember is him hacking away when given the chance,
but then again, I never really followed him outside of the big home run chase. Lets see how he does then.

He hit 263 for his career
but because he was able to draw walks had a career OBP of 394.
I think its safe to say that no hitter in our current lineup who will be on the team next year will ever have an OBP of 394, regardless of who our hitting coach is. I don’t think any of our guys will have exceptional OBPs just due to the collection of offensive talent we have.

I'd say Vlad is a unique example.
A hitting coach surely doesn’t teach swinging at the types of pitches Vlad swings at.
McGwire was pitched around. Just like Bonds was. It’s alot easier to draw walks when pitchers aren’t challenging you. In fact he didn’t draw walks as much as he took them. To me drawing a walk is fouling off several pitches and making the pitcher miss the zone. Taking a walk is when the pitcher is happy missing the zone and hopes you hack at something out of it to get yourself out
