I nearly always
root for the AL team. I don’t hate the Yankees, I just hate Yankee fans.

Meh...
I hate the Yanks and their fans. I could care less which league wins really.
The only real option for this poll is to see a 4 game Phillies sweep.

The alternative is rooting for philly
Whats worse, Yankee fans? Or any fan from philly?

My 2nd favorite team is always whoever is playing the Yankees
Who would you have gone for if the Halos were playing the Phils?
For me, Phils again.
And yes, Yankee fans are worse, b/c every year they think they are the team of destiny, the self absorbed cocksuckers.

I hate their fans.
And specific Yankees. Actually, mostly just Jeter.

See, there again
I don’t hate Jeter, I hate how the media covers him and the fans perceive him as some sort of god.
The Yankees as an entity I can hate, but not the individual players.

I would be really happy
if the Yankees lost the series due to Jump Throw errors by Jeter, or Jeter striking out in the bottom of the 9th with bases loaded. That would be fairly satisfying.
Then again, I’d be OK with ARod as MVP.

Totally
I wanted this to be Dodgers-Yankees, and have Yankees lose the final two wins by the Dodgers due to Jeter and Teixeira errors. A-Rod playing his face off and getting like 59 RBIs, I’m ok with.
A-Rod is a creepy weirdo, but I don’t hate him.

His teammates prefer to call him Bitch Tits.
I do too.

I have no problem with Jeter
at least he didn’t manipulate his way out of Texas like ARod and Teixeira did. Every time I see Teixeira’s face, I want to knock him on his ass.
by twinkilling on Oct 27, 2009 12:34 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Taking the highest offer is "manipulating" your way out of Texas?
I hate Teixeira because he’s a douche. Not because he opted for free agency and took the highest bid.
by FuturePants on Oct 27, 2009 12:43 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Teixeira mouthed for a number of years that the decision to stay was his and not Boras
all the while pissing and moaning in the clubhouse about not wanting to be here. Yes, I call that manipulating. The Rangers knew he wouldn’t re-sign here and had no choice other than to trade him. Thank God they were able to get lucky (so far) with the return. Teixeira likely knew he’d end up in pinstripes 2 or 3 years ago.
by twinkilling on Oct 27, 2009 12:48 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
The pissing and moaning about not wanting to be here
I think that began after the team crapped the bed to start the 2007 season and then made it clear they were going into tear-down and rebuild mode.
Given that, I don’t blame him for wanting to be moved, rather than spend a year and a half on a rebuilding team before becoming a free agent, and given what the Rangers got in return, it appears to have worked out for both him and the Rangers.
by Adam J. Morris on Oct 27, 2009 1:20 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
But was all the pissing and moaning necessary?
I don’t understand the team vs player games that get played. If a player is set on testing FA than why don’t they just go to the GM and say so. The press and fans don’t need to know. Tex kept stringing things along until Hicks made him an offer. Both ended up looking foolish.

Tex kept stringing things along until Hicks made him an offer.
This doesn’t make sense in the context of the rest of your post.
You are complaining that Teixeira was too vocal and public about wanting out, but then seem to complain that he led Hicks on and made him think he’d stay until Hicks made him an offer, which he then rejected.
by Adam J. Morris on Oct 27, 2009 2:17 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Why doesn't it make sense?
Boras got the Rangers to make an offer which he could use to as a baseline for Tex’s FA negotiations. Boras had no intention of accepting any offer for Tex from the Rangers, only to set a standard for future FA negotiations.

All the whining about trading career spare Double D?
Was that blameless as well?
What about the crybabying when Wash told tim to take a pitch or two later in games?
He’s also gotta pretty well know rep for douchiness in his native city, according to numerous reports.

Keeping Double D might have made a little sense if he wasn't blocking Adrian Gonzalez at DH
Of course, Gonzalez wouldn’t have been blocked at DH if Teixeira wasn’t too much of primadonna to move to the outfield.

Ohh, I hate Jeter
And Posada. Probably as much as I hate any other baseball player. The girlfriend had nicknamed Posada “Fievel” which I think is perfect.
It breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart. The game begins in the spring, when everything else begins again, and it blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings, and then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops and leaves you to face the fall alone. You count on it, rely on it to buffer the passage of time, to keep the memory of sunshine and high skies alive, and then just when the days are all twilight, when you need it most, it stops.

I'm voting for the Yankees
because I’ve been told that it is really bad for baseball when the same team wins every year.
(actually, snide response aside, I actually think the Yankees have more personality and are a more fun team than the Phillies. Whereas I hate the players who play for the Red Sox and Angels, the Yankees players, other than Teixeira, are easy to root for.)

I like the way they’ve put together their team. A lot of homegrown talent (Howard, Utley, Rollins, Victorino [though he was Rule 5 from LAD], Hamels, Happ) with a few impact players added through FA (Werth, Lidge, Moyer) and trades (Lee, Blanton).

Hamels and Utley make me root for the Phils. Werth too.
However, whoever I root for in the ‘Series is usually pretty much doomed for failure (the only team I’ve pulled for in the WS that has won is the White Sox, and I wasn’t really rooting too hard for them). So the Phils are probably pretty much doomed.
