may the team that comes after you be even more successful

Woohoo!
a loss! Now if only San Francisco can win. Unfortunately Florida lost.

RIP 2009, I guess.
Hank is 7 runs below a zombie replacement at first base. Do you realize how terrible that is? Zombie’s can’t think, they’re slow, and they’re often ejected from the game for eating opposing baserunners’ brains. - Ben quantifies Hank Blalock
enjoyed it folks
hope to see y’all next year with another winning season. Adios!
I soloed in the Mile High Club!
I forgot my manners
Thanks Adam and Ben for putting up the site and being the hosts. Well done.
I soloed in the Mile High Club!
Yeah
Overall it was fun, despite the bad last month of the season.
Is that all there is?? :(
Let’s break out the booze and have a ball!!

Time to try and remember this season for the highlights
Like the euphoric celebrations Elvis’s nightly miracles used to cause back in April, sweeping the Angels in May, and watching Derek Holland shut down the M’s amid all the trade rumors the night before the deadline.
In memory of the highs, the lows, the Bensons and the Jennings, the Feldmans and the O’days, the Hunters and the Borbons…
I think this is rather appropriate.

Sig says it all
Plus, it’s a gray, dreary day here.
It breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart. The game begins in the spring, when everything else begins again, and it blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings, and then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops and leaves you to face the fall alone. You count on it, rely on it to buffer the passage of time, to keep the memory of sunshine and high skies alive, and then just when the days are all twilight, when you need it most, it stops.
What a day
Liverpool loses, the Rangers lose, Cowboys not looking good.
But on the bright side, I finally won my first title in my oldest fantasy baseball league! 11 years and I finally got me a championship! Wooooo!!!
"I cannot believe how fucking off base I was about Tiny E before this season. The Kid is great and is going to become a star."
- Wails
Funny, my thought went...
Man, at least Chelsea beat up on the scousers because otherwise this day is full of losing. Cowboys, Rangers, 2 FF teams (though both are still in play, not looking good).
If Brad Pitt is playing Beane who do you want playing you?
JD: Eddie Guardado.
Tough way to end the season for sure.
Still have to try find positives to feed off for next year. 2nd place two years in a row is taking baby steps right?
"BIg whoop, wanna fight about it?"
Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?
WARP question
does anyone know where i can find WARP numbers for 2005?
fangraphs
Before clicking, can you guess the top 3? Two are very obvious.
"You can probably stick a fork in the Rangers' playoff chances for 2009." - AJM on 7/26 with the team 4.5 games out
oh
I thought both were wins above replacement, is one different than the other?

WARP is BP's deal
WAR is Fangraphs
They are both wins above replacement, but they use different methodologies. WAR is probably more accurate because BP’s defensive metrics are crap.

Although I've been pissing and moaning lately,
I’m gonna miss the games and the discussions on here. Hope next year is a breakthrough season.

well
at least we did gain a draft position for next year. And we’re also tied with Florida. Is there any tiebreaker or is it going to be a coin flip between us and them??

LOL
Previous year's record.
We’re picking at #15 and #22 now that all the games are done. Tuesday’s tiebreaker doesn’t affect us, so it’s set in stone unless we sign a Type A before the arbitration deadline or one that’s been offered arbitration and declined it after that deadline.
Here’s the 2010 draft order with the two scenarios involving Tuesday’s one-game playoff.

Theres something wrong with us picking behind
a playoff team. I mean they have a chance for the big prize. We don’t. They should get the advantage of the weaker division but suffer the penalty of a worse draft pick.
What do voluntary mean?
They had a worse record than us.
I don’t see any scenario where I’d support moving all the playoff teams to the back of the line. It’s not the Tigers’ and Twins’ fault that they happened to be good, but not great, in a low season for their division.

Man,
I’m tired of the off season. I’m ready for spring training
I enjoy this site a lot more during the offseason
"You can probably stick a fork in the Rangers' playoff chances for 2009." - AJM on 7/26 with the team 4.5 games out
I enjoy it the most right around the
time the 1st sets of prospect lists come out and then when we get hot and heavy in late April early May prepping for the draft…
The offseason is fun around the Winter meetings and arbitration deadlines
JD’s like, "you want some fucking pitching? Here’s all the pitching you can stand. Now choke on it, bitches!"- RCCook
I enjoy the offseason
more than the last month or so of the season when it was obvious that the Rangers weren’t going to make a strong run at it.

Well the off season is here
When do we start the LSB prospect bickering rankings?
Elvis Andrus - 2009 AL Rookie of the Year
Mitch Moreland -Tom Grieve Rangers Minor League Player of the Year
Martin Perez - Nolan Ryan Rangers Minor League Pitcher of the Year
Of all the Rangers seasons I've followed
this is, by far, my favorite. Even more than the playoff years of the mid 90s…it just feels like this was just the beginning. Seeing Elvis, Feldman, Hunter, Feliz (and, to some some extent Davis and Holland, though they had their rough patches) step up damn near gives be goosebumps. This is a good team that’s only going to get better and better as the core matures, and I can’t wait for that. It feels like this could be a team that actually, seriously will content for a World Series in a couple of years, not just a playoff trip. Thanks, fellas, for a very kickass year. Can’t wait for 2010.

Let’s do it again (and for longer) next year.
