Derek Holland on Deadspin
Kinda...
Deadspin has an article about a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader who dressed up as Lil Wayne. And because of this, a picture of Derek Holland is featured prominently on the main site: Click Here
While others are dressed for Halloween, Hollard apparently is costume free.

I never read the fanshots. There way down there where you can't see them.
Anyway that’s not blackface.

Not blackface
that was my thought, that this was not blackface. I doubt that cheerleader even knows what blackface minstrelsy is. This is simply someone dressed up as another person for Halloween.

They say it's not going to end well
but really. There were real black people at the party and if her dressing up as Lil Wayne is offensive, I would expect them to say so.
I didn't know what a mancrush was. Derek Holland showed me.

Well
“Real black people” don’t have the final say on what’s offensive. But nobody should be offended by that girl.

I disagree.
If someone makes a joke about women or gays, what’s most important is how it ‘s received/perceived by members of those groups. That’s why apologies are usually directed at the people most likely to be offended.
It’s easy for you to say no one should be offended by that girl if you’re not black. I don’t have a problem with the girl dressing up as Lil’ Wayne, but I have been offended by “ghetto” parties thrown at UT and other places where everyone dresses up as someone black. That doesn’t appear to be the nature of this event.

It really doesn’t matter if brettgardner or I find it offensive….even though I don’t think the girl as Lil Wayne is offensive to me, I don’t think it’s ok. It’s a very sensitive thing to dress as a black person when you are white, whatever your true purposes or intent.

I think Brett was being satirical in that the white P.C. police are the ones always deciding what is and isn't offensive

gangsters and ho's parties were always funny
and they were no more or less offensive to me than hillbilly parties, or “9 holes” parties (golf club theme – 9 kinds of shots) — only party i was truly offended by/at in 4 years at a pretty liberal college was once when they literally tore pages out of the bible and hung them from the ceiling, had a fake jesus on a cross on a wall, and made fun of the christian faith
…interesting thing is that many of these same frat members protested the desecration of the qur’an in the cartoons, at gitmo, etc

KG: Oh yeah.
Scout: Well, he spent a lot of it on milkshakes.

This "story" led off the 10:00 news on Channel 11 last night.
I was surprised (and glad) that they didn’t mention Holland or show his picture. They interviewed a bunch of Cowboys fans at the game, and nobody cared.
