Thinking about watching Caribbean winter ball
Have any of you ever ventured down to the Caribbean to watch winter ball? My dad and I are pondering the idea. We were passing through Puerto Rico headed to St. Thomas this summer and the thought crossed our mind. Not only would we get to take in a unique sporting experience, but my granddad was stationed in Puerto Rico with the Army back in the 50s and we'd like to take him with us (he hasn't been back since he left the Army) and explore some of his old stomping grounds.
I was hoping the Caribbean Series would be in Puerto Rico this time, but apparently it's in Venezuela. So we were thinking about taking a 3-4 day trip to watch a few games in Puerto Rico and then maybe catch a puddle jumper over to Santo Domingo to watch some Dominican winter ball.
I'd appreciate any insight from those who have ventured down there (or at least have knowledge of it. I know scheduling, rosters, and such on the internet can be a bit sketchy, so I figured the best bet is to just fly down to San Juan during the winter ball season, find a baseball schedule in the paper or such, and show up to the stadium.
If any of you have any thoughts, insight, recommendations, etc., I would appreciate it.

Other than extreme jealousy,
I have nothing to offer. Sounds like it could be amazing. Good luck. On a side note, when I travel I like to attend sporting events. I went to a soccer match in Amsterdam. Soccer is pretty big there to say the least. A lasting memory is seeing basketball type “pitches” for pickup soccer. The pitch was asphalt surrounded by chain link fences. You could tell there was a LOT of contact playing in the small space. Like pickup Bball here, there are fights all the time. Cool. I’ve seen bull fights which totally grossed me out in Mexico.
