Rangers: Best tools
Adding a new feature to this year's book (as I put the finishing touches on things.....all top 72 prospect features are finished) -- a BA-like rundown of the system's best tools. But I want to go beyond what BA does. What other categories do you want me to add besides the following?
Best Hitter for Average
Best Power Hitter
Best Strike-Zone Discipline
Best Bat Control
Fastest Baserunner
Best Baserunner
Best Athlete
Best Fastball
Best Curveball
Best Slider
Best Changeup
Best Control
(should I have separate category for Best *Command*?)
Best Life
Best Defensive Catcher
Best Defensive 1B
Best Defensive 2B
Best Defensive SS
Best Defensive 3B
Best Infield Arm
Best Defensive Outfielder
Best Outfield Arm
Most Exciting Player
Best Manager Prospect

I'm not sure control matters without command
unless you’re trying to figure out a way to say best BB/9. If that is the case, then I do think you should have both. If not, then I would prefer to see only Best Command.
Would you consider having Best Range for infield and outfield? Or would that be covered in one of the categories you already have?
Can’t wait for the book.
That's why they call them business sox
Most likely to...

I have no objection to man walking on the moon.
Spike Lundberg, John Hudgins, C.J. Wilson, Jason Andrew, Michael Schlact, Ryan Tatusko.
With one exception, they do sort of fit a similar profile.

I've got a player lined up for the 2010 season
I’ve warned him of what happened to the previous two [Tim Smith and Chris Dennis], and he still seems eager.

you know
he’s not the first to criticize jamey but I don’t see how he criticizes jamey when the last thing he posted was from august…and it sucked as usual.
say something smart. I’ll give you a dollar (2 if it isn’t some lame attempt at a comeback)
and really
i don’t understand why he criticizes jamey either. MJH had the interesting but controversial predictions on prospects. Jamey just gives us the positives on everybody and generally only aggregates stats and scouting reports while giving us personal bios that he’s able to obtain with his access.
just a bizarre little man that fin is.
You don't understand the nature of criticism

the nature of criticism in general?
yeah, that sounds about right because I actually don’t criticize anybody ever.
I don’t understand the nature of your criticism. Explain it to me. And try not to be act like a pariah while doing it (you know – no need to cite family emergencies). nobody likes a sad face.
I'll make a deal with you
I’ll explain my critique of Newberg if you can tell me what it was like to play “Corky” on the show Life Goes On. Deal?

hahaha
damn that’s funny. I’m a mentally challenged person from an early 90’s tv show.
wait. it’s not really that clever. Me calling you a dumbass is probably just as clever. my pariah comment was more clever (if not just apt).
so how about i just say, “deal” and you try to say something else clever
No need
And you are right, that was damn funny.

You've clearly been outwitted, ab03.
You said that his comment was “not really that clever,” to which he replied that it was “damn funny.”

ok
you do win. but please, do explain your problem with jamey. i seriously can’t remember what it is and i’m sure the new people are dying to know what it is you don’t like about him.
I never had a problem with Newberg
I read his blog and I get his emails. It was when he started running his mouth about Crops that pissed me off. I get it, people didn’t like the site and I know why. It just wasn’t that good. It could and should have much better.
That said, Newberg made the decision to poke at me and I decided to poke back. I know where I stand in this community and that is fine. However, I don’t have a problem calling out people who like to talk shit. I’m not a punching bag just because you don’t like my site or my opinions.

Crap, I think the exchange got deleted, because I can't find it in the archives
The suggestion was that it’s not Jamey, but it’s a regular poster who is generally viewed as knowledgeable about prospects.
I vote Scott Lucas. He would be the perfect candidate to pick fights with The Newberg.

What current player is most likely to be a coach/manager one day? For example I always hear Adam Fox will be a good manager.
Maybe that is what you have in mind for Best Manager Prospect?

Best 5 tool player
Best Hitting Prospect (overall)
Best Pitching Prospect (overall)
Best Chance to Overachieve (not really identifying a talent – maybe mental makeup or something)
Best Speed – somewhat covered by a few of them but I really want to know who has the fastest 40 time.
I wonder if you’d be able to name all of these awards. (Best Defensive Catcher – Pudge Rodriguez award).
Best Interview
Best blogger (are there enough?)
Some stuff that maybe only I want to know
Strongest
Tallest
Skinniest
Best opposite field hitter
Best opposite field power
Best bunter

Best...
Bunter
Basestealer (not really same as runner)
Leader (might as well evaluate, since it appears to be a key reason to resign players — just kidding, I actually like Byrd).
Jack Daddy
Best Grullon
