Do you have Directv?

If so, I believe it’s on their basic package.

If not, I’m sure you could find any bar or restaurant in DFW that will have the game on. May need to go out tonight KoK.

I'm glad everyone...

thinks that TCU will roll.

They’re not playing some scrub team. Everyone thought the Frogs would win last year too. I’m sure ‘Bama thought they had a 0.01% of losing to my Utes as well. I may not expect the Utes to win ( I predicted a 17 – 7 loss) but the Frogs won’t win by 3 TD’s like the “experts” think.

It will be a good game.

Utah's best win this year, is what the OT thriller against Air Force?

You haven’t played anybody other than a string of bullshit teams.

Oregon, who had their asses paddled by Boise State & Stanford, is the best team Utah has played this season and they got throttled.

TCU is a three touchdown favorite for a reason.

The thing is

TCU should have won last year too. Their defense absolutely dominated until that last drive. Give credit to the Utes for pulling it out, but if Evans doesnt miss two kicks in the fourth quarter (that were both within 35 yards) there is no way Utah wins the game.

Espn.com's headline with 5 minutes left in the first half:

“Bear Repellant-Colt McCoy is keeping Baylor at bay again”

At that point, he had 110 yards passing, though 2 TD’s. Not shabby, but that’s not what was killing Baylor. What killed them is that at that point they had 52 yards passing and -5! yards passing. At halftime, Colt has 164 yds passing (2 TD’s), Baylor has 62 yards passing and -25! yards rushing. I feel like if you have negative yards rushing, there should be exclamation points invovled.

Sigh. This game was over as soon as UT scored it’s first points…everything else is window dressing.

men's basketball...really?

Baylor has as many players murdered since they’ve been in the Big 12 as the do appearances in the NCAA tourney.

I would say TCU has the same level of success (or lack thereof) as Baylor does.

TCU also OWNS track and field, and their baseball programs are both very good.

they're better right now, but we're talking about in the last 2 years?

OK, so you should probably replace Colorado with Boise State then. I was trying to equate the program and their history since the SWC dissolved, and they’re about even in men’s basketball.

you also have to take into consideration that Baylor is getting the benefit of being in the Big 12

while TCU is not. If it was announced that they would be switching places, TCU’s recruiting would improve a bit, and Baylor’s would fall off the face of the earth. They would be Rice.

In college football

A dynamic QB can make them a team on the rise all by himself

Add in a good coach like Briles and Baylor is definitely a team on the rise. Its gonna be tough for them because of who they have to play each season but I could easily see them pulling something like Tech did last year here in a couple seasons

for me to call them a team on the rise

they have to win some games. and even with Griffin, they would have lost most of their big 12 south games. Of course, they are facing tough competition.

So if they have Griffin next year, and they tank because Griffin gets hurt, are they still on the rise? I’ll have to see it to believe it.

Last year with a true freshman QB

They hung tough against Missouri and Tech, only losing by a TD to each of them

This year they went on the road to Wake Forest and won

TCU would be better for the conference in football but in other sports we would be worse off.

But I also don’t believe TCU would be undefeated if they played in the Big 12. At least 2 possibly 3 losses.

Stanford 55 - USC 21...

USC is the most overrated team in the top 25 right now. They shouldn’t even be ranked. The fact that hey were still a top 10 team with 2 losses shows that they get votes just because of their reputation the last few years. Perhaps getting drilled by Stanford at home will convince people to stop voting for so highly for USC.

they should be in the 20’s at this point. Those are close losses that they have had. They have been blown out of the water in their last two losses. This is also why there should not be rankings until you get 6 or so into the season, but that won’t happen because they need to hype games for more than they are early in the season

Ahh, yes...

the blog clown comin’ back to talk some smack with me. Always nice.

Thing is, to put it in baseball terms (another sport that you suck at analyzing and have zero credibility in), it’s a little like a Pirates fan talking shit about the Phillies.

You see, the Utes have played plenty of “real” football teams and won in the last five years, ask TCU (who we are 5-2 against),‘Bama, Pitt, among others. We have been undefeated BCS bowlers twice in the last 5 years. The only team that can say that. You can’t do that every year, and I’m more than okay with a 9 – 3 or 10 – 2 finish in a rebuilding year.

Yes, TCU whipped our ass, and is a much better team this year. I see no shame in losing to the best team in the country on the road though. It’s losing at home by 22 to a mediocre A&M team that would really bug me. Oh, and how did Tech do this week? Since losing by a TD on the road is getting “throttled” in your opinion, it appears that’s exactly what happened to your little Red Raiders this week too.

So as your little Techsters try to reach that level that that Utes have twice, always remember that when you finish 7 – 5 you can still use the excuse that you play in a tough conference. Too bad that Tech would be fighting it out with Air Force for 4th place every year in the MWC. Utah, BYU, and TCU are all clearly better programs that Tech. I know that must hurt you. It’s okay though, It was only a short 7 years ago that my school was irrelevant in college football too. I remember how bad that sucked. I do feel for you just a little.

Enjoy the Insight Bowl. And as always, Go Utes.

Tech got beat this week but they're trying to win with a QB who has been both injured and benched

for Sheffield (who was trying to play Saturday night with a surgically repaired broken foot) and a red-shirt freshman.

That’s been our issue this year. When we had a healthy effective QB, we waltzed into Nebraska and dominated. The whole year has been a mess because our best QB wasn’t identified early on and then he got hurt.

Leach wears a lot of this but there’s a lot of talent coming back next year and there’s also a lot of talent from other teams leaving the Big 12.

At this point we could be going to the Holiday, Alamo or Sun Bowl which is nothing particularly great but this was a rebuilding year and all three of those bowls are better than the Humanitarian Bowl that Utah is going to this year.

Utah got their ass kicked because they’re not a very good team, period.

Blah blah blah....

excuses, excuses. The Utes played a freshman QB getting only his second start against TCU. You don’t see me saying that’s why TCU won do you?

Utah is 8 – 2 and still ranked for a reason. They’re a good team, just not great like in ’08 and ’04.

Tech on the other hand is 6 – 4, not a good team, and headed to the Insight Bowl after OU pounds them this week. A team that the 3rd best team in the MWC beat this year, by the way.

Mediocrity is fun isn’t it. Enjoy.

Utah wasn't even competitve. It was a mismatch on every level.

Utah hasn’t beaten anybody worth a damn the entire season and your ranking is a product of the weak schedule more than how good you are.
