thanks for the link, shroom

and TT went on to say “He and 2009 No. 1 overall pick Stephen Strasburg are the top two arms out here, for sure.”

I’m excited about him

loves me some Tanner Scheppers!

I've expressed this basic opinion before, but...

If the Ghost of Baseball Drafts Future had visited me the night before the 2009 draft and shown me a vision of how Budford Q. Selig had announced before the draft that he’d had a change of heart and declared that teams could now trade draft picks and that we’d traded our 14th and 44th picks in the draft for the draft rights to Tanner Scheppers and the 14th overall pick (albeit an unprotected version), I wouldn’t have been able to contain the excitement in my baseball pants and would’ve promptly jizzed into my hand and then thrown it at a the nearest bearded hobo.

I know that’s the glass half full way of looking at a sucky situation where we could’ve had an elite player with the pick if Matt Purke hadn’t gone all “Sorry, but my heart pumps Horn Frog-purple, broseph” on us, but as far as draft debacles go, I think history will show we actually made out pretty decent on this one as far as the long term impact goes.

Scheppers is just so dreamy….

Couldn't have said it better

It is telling that on draft day, I was way more excited about Scheppers – who I just had assumed wouldn’t be a Ranger since the team is too conservative to have taken him at #14 and no way he’d fall to our supp pick – than Purke. If they had just said “the hell with it, we’re taking Scheppers at #14,” I’d have been 100% okay with that.

JD is just so awesome that when he drafts with one hand tied behind his back he still wins.

Is there anyone...

that has drafted better than the Rangers FO in the last 3 years?

I hate that they've throwing all that money into the draft in recent years.

Why can’t all big market juggernauts be required to handle their drafting like, say, the Mets?

You know, just to even out the field a bit.

You’re telling me Omar Minaya couldn’t handle bungling the draft for multiple teams at the same time?

I realize

that some small portion of the Mets’ suck recently has been bad luck, but why does Minaya still have a job there? I cringe when I remember the days when he was thought to be a contender for the Rangers’ FO job.

Minaya's immunity from termination is one of life's great mysteries.

Although, to be fair, he has made some nice moves. (The Johan trade, Signing Beltran, etc.)

It’s just that his many fucktardedly foolish moves far outshine any good he’s done as their GM, imo.

Man, the Rangers have a lot of

intriguing pitching depth at or near the major league level right now. A lot of young, talented wild cards.

What I love about it

is that they have 4 or 5 guys who have the potential to be an ace. Yeah, not all are going to; but when you have 4 guys who each have a 20% chance of being a guy who’ll get Cy Young votes, there is a pretty good chance at least one of them is going to.

Compare this to the Rangers of old, who rarely had anyone with potential ceilings as high as these guys right now. There was a Brown or Witt or Correa once every 5 years or so; that’s it.

Remeber

when Hurley was our top prospect? Man. Seems like ages ago.

Although, he might still end up being a decent player but who knows after his injury.

I never felt that Hurley had anywhere near the potential

of Holland, Feliz, Perez, or Scheppers. Of course, Hurley’s prospecty-ness was occurring at the time when his #3 ceiling would be a godsend to the Rangers.

Yah, I remember a time when I loved me some Hurley, but I don't know that he was ever really a threat to be an ace.

A #2 If things broke right, perhaps.

But Feliz, Der-Hol, Perez and TS are a cut above anything Hurley ever was in terms of ceiling, imo.

Yah, Main has gobs of ceiling, too. As does a certain Mr. Wilmer Font.

I wasn’t disrespecting those two potential aces (or Robbie Ross or any of our other pitching prospects, really), I was merely confining my blabbing to our current big 4 is all.

believed that Hurley was going to an ace. I was merely stating the difference between our farm system now and a few years ago.

Not to go all math on you....

But just an fyi that 4 guys who each have a 20% probability, means a 59%ish probability that one of them makes it… :P

Maybe it’s because she likes good music and is not bad looking. IDK.

She should have sang

I’ve Just Seen a Face, though I’m shocked at how authentic they made the mandolin and fiddle solos sound. That in a way is in itself a great tribute to the amazing range of the Beatles, a band that could make nearly any genre sound spontaneous.

good stuff

Hey man, you ever go up to the square on Sat or Sun (can’t think which) between like 10 and noon? Some old time guitar pickers go up there and have a jam session on the courthouse steps others will jump in with their fiddles, mandolins, banjos, even a stand up bass…..good scene.

Seems like those would make some good photos. Check it out.
