And yet...
he still thinks that this team has to bring back one of the biggest culprits in that lack of discipline (Byrd obviously) because he’s a “leader”. Even though the team already has a crowded OF and is financially strapped.
I agree with Grant here though. I feel that plate discipline is one of the biggest issues that needs to be addressed with this team right now.

How could you not?
I feel that plate discipline is one of the biggest issues that needs to be addressed with this team right now.
I’m not trying to single you out — but I can’t fathom how someone could have the opinion that the plate discipline and approach of this team is fine, ya know?

The team just needs
more energy.

EG's charts aren't all that informative nor are his conclusions
He points out the bottom five teams in OBP with two strikes on them, which includes the Rangers. Well, those exact same five teams also had the worst overall OBP in the AL. The problem isn’t that the Rangers have “two-strike anxiety” but that they suck getting on base regardless the count, which holds true for the other teams.
He also tries to equate first pitch swinging strikes to bad OBP with the worst offenders of swinging away being Tex, TB, Det, KC and Minn. As far as overall OBP, only two of those teams were in the bottom (Tex and KC). On the other side, Minn and TB were 4th and 5th best in OBP. First pitch swinging strikes do not create bad OBPs. Bad OBP causes bad OBP.
It breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart. The game begins in the spring, when everything else begins again, and it blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings, and then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops and leaves you to face the fall alone. You count on it, rely on it to buffer the passage of time, to keep the memory of sunshine and high skies alive, and then just when the days are all twilight, when you need it most, it stops.

7+ Pitch ABs
Any info out there on that subject? Seems like we had a limited number of 7+ pitch ABs while the opponents had a large number.
This could simply be a perception based on frustration, so I’d be interested to see the stats.
