Three way deal only works if...
Rangers receive: Bradley, Tom Gorzelanny and $5 million from Cubs
Rangers receive: John Maine and $5 million from Mets
Mets receive: Kevin Millwood and a player that we will expose in Rule 5 anyway
Cubs receive: Luis Castillo and a player we will expose in Rule 5 anyway
We get two serviceable pitchers to let Maddux try and re-discover, plus our RH bat for $10 million over two years.
If Bradley behaves for two years and gives 100%, I would rather do this deal and lose Byrd.
I know the teams are saying the original rumor isn't happening, but maybe there is a combination out there like this to make a deal better for the Rangers.

i don't think
the Cubs trade Bradley, Gorzellany and 5 million just to take on Castillo’s negative value and a middling prospect from our system.
This deal definitely favors us on paper, but even if it did go through, it sort of “clogs” up our 40 with risky pitchers when we really need help elsewhere.
What is this, Horseville? Because I'm surrounded by naysayers.
i'll put this here
even though it doesn’t really fit.
The Mariners had a strange series of events. Back in July they traded OF Wlademir Balienten to the Reds for reliever (and Houston Bellaire alum) Robert Manuel. Manuel’s a guy whose results had always exceded his stuff, so scouts were skeptical of the trade, but he actually performed pretty well in limited action this year for the Reds and Mariners. Well today, the M’s just gave him away, DFAing him and allowing the Red Sox to claim him (granted, if he made it to the Red Sox, that means a lot of teams passed). It seems like an odd thing for the M’s to do, though, seeing enough in him to target him in a prospect for prospect trade back in July and then giving up on him a mere three months later.

Possibly trying to slip him through waivers right now
All the teams had to add their rule 5 guys so some teams were possibly full is the only thing I can think of
Bryan Smith (12:17:17 PM PT): Justin Smoak and Josh Hamilton. The AL West might just have found their Bash Brothers, v. 2.0.
Gorzellany intrigues me
Had that one good year with the Pirates, then basically stunk it up for the past 2 seasons. I’d definately be intrigued to see what Maddux could do with him because theres definitely been signs of potential.

Meh
I know theres a little more potential there, but if either of those guys hit their peak they are, at least hopefully for us, soon back of the rotation guys or somewhere in the BP.
I wouldn’t want to give up Millwood to get either of them, as I do think we are still looking at next year as a year to actually do some winning and I think Millwood would help more than those guys would.
I still expect Bradley, if he gets traded to be a simple trade, Bradley + money for a mediocre prospect or three.
What do voluntary mean?
sheesh
You really think Millwood plus 2 non-prospects is worth Bradley, Gorzellany, Maine and $10M?

I'd bet the Rangers wouldn't pull that trade
In my mind the question is would Millwood be worth Gorzellany and Main. And for us next year I think Millwood is worth more than the two of them in all likelihood.
What do voluntary mean?
I keep bouncing back and forth on Milly
Part of me thinks that he can be as productive as he was in the first half of the year, part of me thinks he’ll revert to is 08 form.
However, the less people blocking Feliz = the happier I am. But that doesn’t matter too much.

Milly will be playing for a contract next year
I’d keep him around and trade him if we fall out of contention.
That's why they call them business sox
