Happy birthday, Tommy Dunbar
Happy birthday to Tommy Dunbar, who turns 50 today.
Dunbar was a first round draft pick of the Rangers in the January, 1980 secondary draft, an outfielder who could hit for average but didn't do a whole lot else. He put up an impressive .323/.419/.540 line as a 22 year old in the Texas League, and won the American Association batting title while with Oklahoma City in 1984 with a .337 average.
However, Dunbar never hit in the majors...in 91 games with the Rangers spread over the 1983-85 seasons, Dunbar put up a .231/.305/.298 line. Dunbar bounced around in the minors through the 1991 season, but never made it back to the majors after 1985.

Average/Max Velocity in AFL
Scheppers is sitting pretty…
I had a paper route when I was a kid. I was supposed to go to 2,000 houses. Or two dumpsters.

Matt Harrison
checking in very nicely as well. We really really got a steal in DG, i think. I believe worst case he is shut down middle reliever which wouldnt be a bad thing.
"More than likely JW never played sports above the youth level. It amazes me that he seems to have no concept on the common reactions of an adult athlete or their normal interactions between each other." - laxonto

worst case is that his off field issues are real and he never pitches for the Rangers
not that it is likely, but that really is a legitimate worst case

Tommy's '85 Topps card...
…was one I seriously coveted at the time. I tried to acquire as many as I could. As it turned out, much ado about nothing.
