AND Physioc...

Not going to celebrate someone losing their job.. but THANK THE LORD I don’t have to listen to them anymore.

Awesome.

A few things that frighten me...

The Halo fans are upset that Hudler had to be fired too. He was 1,000x worse than Physioc.

Also, have we heard anything concrete about Lewin yet? Is he coming back? If not, you don’t think they would consider Physioc for the position, do you?

Oh God.

Someone on HH said

“I would rather listen to the 28 other broascasts over ours now. The only 2 below us are the Rangers and White Sox.”

I get why people wouldn’t like Lewin/TAG. I’m biased, so I enjoy that duo. However, I don’t think they were anywhere close to as bad as Hud/Phys.

That someone also doesn't know how to do math.

If there are 28 better broadcasts, the Angels’ broadcast and two worse, that makes 31 broadcasts. There are 30 teams.

Rob Neyer said that their one of his favorite teams.

Did Neyer just make an offhanded comment to that effect or did he talk about them and other teams in a little detail?

That’s pretty cool. I’ve always liked Neyer.

That's what I'm saying!

They’re homers, but not the extent that Hudler/Physioc/Hawk are.

They’re knowledgeable, Lewin makes FANTASTIC calls when it counts, TAG has the experience of pretty much every level in the buisness. You don’t have to like them, but to say they’re one of the worst broadcast teams is insane.

THANK YOU

Being in San Diego, I rely on listening to Angels radio broadcasts to hear the Rangers play. Generally, the Angels radio guys were very good (Rory Markus is great); but last year (I think) Hudler started doing part of the radio broadcasts as well.

I’d prefer a love child of Tim McCarver, Joe Morgan, and the White Sox announcers to Rex Hudler. He is quite simply the worst person ever to be put behind a microphone in history.

The only time I remember having to endure Rexy Rex

was during some game last year in ST…he was all over Sosh during the game in the dugout, someone hit a dong and he jumped up and gave them a high five on their way back to the dugout.

It was truly one of THE worst things I’ve ever seen, made me feel uncomfortable.

I was just waiting for one of the Angels players to punch him in the nose…what a blowhard.

99% of Halos Heavan love Wonderdog I guess

Here’s the lone voice of reason:

To me, Hudler typifies catchphrase media — the Jim Rome syndrome where audiences expect to pull the string every night and hear "gotta be hackin!" or "that’s a frozen rope!". It’s so repetitive and unspontaneous, my brain hurts like a baby seal under the club with the monotony of it.

I can understand a color man being a homer but I have to agree with this comment. To me, the absolute worst part of Hudler was the fact that every player had to have a nickname and he acted like they were all his frat brothers. Fuck I hated him.

It breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart. The game begins in the spring, when everything else begins again, and it blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings, and then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops and leaves you to face the fall alone. You count on it, rely on it to buffer the passage of time, to keep the memory of sunshine and high skies alive, and then just when the days are all twilight, when you need it most, it stops.

Well they are the Angels

If it is possible to hire someone worse than Rex Hudler, they probably will.

by Black Francis on Nov 24, 2009 5:19 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

As an angel fan,

I will attempt to explain why angel fans are mad about hudler and not physioc.
Hudler was smart. Don’t get me wrong, we all know he is VERY wacky. But he knew baseball. I remember a while ago when Percival had a bad outing, and Rex completely predicted he had an injury. Sure enough, not much later percival went on the DL.
Physioc, on the other hand, does NOT know baseball. And on top of that, he acts stupid. And I’m gonna predict what you guys are gonna say:
“Hud acted stupid too”
But to me, to angel fans, he didn’t act stupid. As stated above, he acted wacky. But physioc doesn’t seem to know baseball. For pete’s sake, he’s been calling Pac-10 football!!! And on top of that, he’s been somewhat biased AGAINST the Angels…or at the very least a little too even for local broadcasts…
Just trying to explain ourselves, here…

You call him "wacky"; I call him "completely unbearable".

It’s not difficult to tell if a pitcher’s hurt, either. Not if you spend a lot of time watching him. I find it hard to believe that Rex Hudler is smart in any capacity at all.
