Preach it Garmac..
I wonder if this will free up enough money to sign a free agent? ROFL … If this is such a good move, why wasn’t it done years ago? This team needs to be active! Putting pieces in place for a championship.

Balance and streamlined operations

People talk about the trades and draft choices made under Daniels, but in the long run this reorganization and expanding of the scouting may be his legacy, or at least just as important. I think it’s already paid dividends in ways we don’t often think about, such as adding a guy like Melo to the Laird trade or other moves that seem small at the time.

I liked reading the passage below:

The Rangers made two other potentially significant hires. Matt Vinnola, who was the Rockies’ manager of baseball administration, was hired as director of baseball operations, and Matt Klotsche, who has been a scout for the Rangers and has a law degree from the University of Florida, was hired as an assistant in baseball operations. They were brought in to assist Levine in the Rangers’ statistical and analytical evaluation of players for all phases of the Rangers’ scouting and player development.

“A lot of people think we’ve been focused more on that the past few years rather than traditional scouting,” Daniels. “But in fact, it has been the other way around. We’ve been much heavier the other way, but this will help us with the analytical side.”

Getting more sabre-savvy can’t hurt.

Sullivan added that moves like this are critical for a team “operating with relatively limited financial resources.” Well, yeah, but these kind of moves are smart for any team no matter what their resources and will continue to help even when a new owner presumably loosens up the purse strings a little.

Maybe Klotsche can convince someone

that Cruz isn’t that bad of a defender.
