17 baserunners in 4.2 ip last year
Holy shit, that’s bad. No wonder the Royals left that part out of the media release.

The Royals love picking up our scrubs.
I thought it be all warm and shitty, but it just tasted like normal beer. It was still cold.

Semi-related OT
But I watched King of Kong today. Very funny, interesting, and sad.

Never saw it.
IMDB rates it at 8.3 out of 10. Must be pretty good.

It is good
So is Chasing Ghosts, which has a lot of the same people featured in it but covers a different aspect of the gaming world. I recommend both of them.

Man, it must be the official "insignificant transactions involving ex-rangers that nobody gives a shit about anymore" day.

I would have been okay picking him up in rule 5 for our utility gig
Bryan Smith (12:17:17 PM PT): Justin Smoak and Josh Hamilton. The AL West might just have found their Bash Brothers, v. 2.0.
Well, it depends on how effective he is at SS
But maybe a good point.

why does it depend on that?
How many games do you expect Elvis to miss?
If Elvis gets hurt we are screwed regardless of who our utility guy is

Why is this an excuse not to make sure we have a decent backup SS around?
Regardless over whether Elvis gets hurt or not it would be dang nice not to have too steep a dropoff at SS on his days off.

I'm hoping for McDonald
His D is kind on the decline, but he’s veteran-y and can cover the entire infield save for 1B. Sounds like something this team would like.

re-signed with the Blue Jays
for $3M/2 years today, I think. Next available options are Everett, Alex Gonzalez, and maybe even Josh Wilson.
Its not an excuse its just reality
Guys you would be comfortable with as an everyday player if your SS went down with injury are probably guys who want to be an everyday player somewhere. They aren’t going to want to come to a team with a obvious everyday guy in front of them which Elvis is. He played over 140 games last year as a rookie. Barring injury I expect him to be in the 150-155 range this year.
Yes we should have a guy who is competant at SS either as our utility or stashed away in AAA in case of injury to Elvis. But thats not a priority for me personally. Kinsler is a much better bet to go on the DL so IMO our utility guy needs to be proficient at 2B more than SS.

I would think
That finding a decent utility guy who can play SS would just mean he’s also a better defender at 2B and 3B too.
