Rangers Hire Clint Hurdle as Hitting Coach?
The first word on the Rangers' hitting coach was that no announcement was going to be made today. Then, a source said Clint Hurdle would be hired. Then, a radio station said the same thing. Then, the Rangers' general manager Jon Daniels offered a deniel. Then, Hurdle declined to comment. Then, another source said Hurdle.
So, who do you believe? Go with the sources, who say Hurdle is going to be the Rangers' hitting coach and annoucement will be made before the end of the week.

Manager-in-waiting?
Or reading too much into it?

that is why I thought it wouldn't be Hurdle.
Another lackluster April and many will be calling for Hurdle to replace Wash.

NICE!
that would have been my choice
your copy and paste job made me think there was something wrong with your fanpost.

It breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart. The game begins in the spring, when everything else begins again, and it blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings, and then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops and leaves you to face the fall alone. You count on it, rely on it to buffer the passage of time, to keep the memory of sunshine and high skies alive, and then just when the days are all twilight, when you need it most, it stops.
Thanks
I wasn’t sure anyone would get that one.

I'm hoping this hire will force Wash into buying some more stylish spectacles.

That's what happens when some slap dick radio station tries to scoop everyone.
Although, with them being the flagship station and all, you’d think they’d get first dibs….

wtf
ridiculous. now we are going to end up signing Greer, and I’m going to get all grumpy

Why can't we have two hitting instructors?
We’ve got two pitching instructors (pitching coach and bullpen coach). Maybe we need a Hitting Coach and a “Batting Cage Coach”

How about
We just fire Wash, hire Hurdle to manage the team, and hire Rusty to be the hitting coach.
Jimmy Johnson for GM.

you mean like the Rockies did
under Clint Hurdle. A team that would go on to make the playoffs despite his horrid 18-26 start or something like that.
A baseball game is simply a nervous breakdown divided into nine innings.
I can't imagine
why anyone would want him as manager.

The Texas Rangers are denying an ESPN 103.3 FM report that the club is hiring former Rockies manager Clint Hurdle as hitting coach.
John Blake, Rangers Executive VP of Communications, said the club has not made any offer for the hitting coach position and are not expected to do so Tuesday. He said the team is still doing its due diligence on the situation.

So wait
is Hurdle our hitting coach? He’s my preference of choice, but I’m not really sure it matters. I might get on the ball and find out how teams under his previous instructions have fared in terms of OBP.

And then the Rangers hire Hurdle

Clint Hurdle
9th overall pick by the Royals in 1975. Amassed 1600 PAs in what appears to be a 10 yr injury riddled career. Played mostly all 4 corners. No pop in his bat but he did have a career .341 OBP. He was the Rockies hitting coach from 1997 to 2002 when he took over as manager. He led them to the WS in 2007.
Rockies NL ranks with Hurdle as hitting coach
year…………..avg……………obp…………..slg…………..so(fewest)……..bb
2001…………..1………………1………………..1…………….1…………………….10
2000…………..1………………2………………..4…………….1……………………..10
1999…………..1………………6………………..1…………….1……………………..14
1998…………..1……………..3…………………1…………….1……………………..13
1997…………..1………………1…………………1……………4……………………..6
pre Hurdle
1996…………..1………………1…………………1…………..10……………………8
1995…………..1………………2…………………1…………….7……………………6
1994…………..5………………5…………………3…………..12…………………..6
They certainly did improved their K rankings under Hurdle. But, their high OBP is due to high BA.
