Finally
I get to watch a Mavs game. Haven’t been able to watch a game yet so I am excited.

Hopefully you hung in there
Sucked until just now but quite a comeback

Do you not understand the concept of
wanting to discuss a different sport with the people who post here? You ask this quite often, and the reason is obvious.

I don't know
but Adam being nice to the other blogs doesn’t really have anything to do with a poster posting about other sports.

I'm going to admit that I don't watch the Mavs
but I watched the 2 games in LA…..
I like the D they’re showing…is the D the real deal?
They’re kinda rounding into a whole basketball team rather than an offensvie sideshow they’ve shown the last 10 years….am I wrong?

No kidding.

Damn.
25 points for Dirkels in the 4th quarter.

This is amazing
they made up 16 points really fast, but you don’t expect them to build a seven point lead so fast. Usually there is a lull after a big comeback.
Huge
addition Howard is going to be when he gets back.

that's crazy man

When I just checked the box
I figured that ‘44’ was a typo. Had to step thru the 4th Q pxp sheet to confirm it. yowza
That was
a lot of fun. Didn’t expect a comeback the way the Mavs were playing through three and a half quarters. Not only did the Mavs come back but beat the Jazz by 10+ points after being down 16 points.
Dirk was beastly in the 4th quarter.

it's early
but interesting that the jazz have started 1-3. they’ll be good but it doesn’t hurt that they have a 1-3 stretch, be it at any point in the season

You have to wonder if the whole Boozer situation isn't messing with their identity
Many feel he’s going to be the 1st player traded this season.
People around here...
were ready to get rid of Booz two months ago.
He’s public enemy #1 out here right now.

You have to wonder
If those Miami rumors had any truth to them.
by brettgardner on Nov 3, 2009 11:31 PM CST up reply actions
Yeah...
hard to tell.
I tend to think they were bunk and just because he lives out there though. Boozer is a good player, but extremely selfish. He wants his 20/10 every night and doesn’t seem too concerned with the team. I can understand why Jazz fans out here are tired of him. They watch Millsap bust his ass out on the court and Boozer play zero defense. The problem is Millsap just doesn’t have the talent that Booz does.
The Jazz will try their best to deal him, just not sure where the best fit is yet.
"The only good is knowledge and the only evil is ignorance."-Socrates
They should deal the guy for a bag of chips.
Seems like he’s reached cancer-level.
From what I remember last season, the Jazz were rolling up the West until Boozer came back, then they just stalled completely.
Remember to retire Fin's number, Mark.
For what?
He’s look AWFUL so far this season. The Jazz are noticeably better when he isn’t on the floor.
Maybe he is just a bad fit but it seems like he doesn’t have much trade value at all right now.

4 games in
Believe me, there are plenty of teams who would give up something of value for Boozer right now.
wouldn't we if we could?
"I just want to comment on how it’s become like a common thing in the [MLB] for guys to fall in love with [the Rangers’s] sloppy seconds." (thanks cstorm)
Yeah, I wouldn't do it if I were Dallas.
I’d be perfectly happy if we got Kaman, Camby, or Raja Bell. Those are my only targets.
Damn, Damp played 38+ minutes
Is Gooden hurt, or did Carlisle already figure out that he sucks?
Favorite bumper sticker of all time, seen on a VW bus:
"Gas, Grass, or Ass. Nobody rides for free"
you know a lot more about hoops than I do
does Gooden bring anything to the table when he’s healthy. Watching him play the little bit that I’ve seen, I can’t stand the way the plays. Damp seems about 10x better. Gooden sucks.
Favorite bumper sticker of all time, seen on a VW bus:

he is pretty talented
but an incredible waste of talent. I keep waiting for him to put it together but now it becomes painfully obvious why he never will.
they aren’t similar players but I feel like this also happened to donyell marshall, though i think marshall is a better player
"I just want to comment on how it’s become like a common thing in the [MLB] for guys to fall in love with [the Rangers’s] sloppy seconds." (thanks cstorm)
he's one of my least favorite players in the nba
he’s gets very little out of what he has. he feels the need to try and create his own shot, and that generally doesn’t turn out very well, as you have probably seen. i wouldn’t expect much out of him.
What would it take for a big?
Bogut or Lopez?
by brettgardner on Nov 3, 2009 10:58 PM CST up reply actions
I dont know, i need more time to figure out what i have
I dont want to sell Bogut early, because i’d have to sell low. Horford is pretty much untouchable. Lopez is the only one I would sell right now, just because his value is where it should be
hurt
and he may or may not have used a slur which he may or may not be in trouble for.
the center situation kind of sucks.
"I just want to comment on how it’s become like a common thing in the [MLB] for guys to fall in love with [the Rangers’s] sloppy seconds." (thanks cstorm)
apparently he didn't
but am I the only one who secretly wishes he did and would get cut?

I guess he is probably better than a random CBA big man
but I can’t believe they would go out of their way to bring him in. Maybe I just haven’t caught him on a good night, but something about the way he plays drives me nuts.
Favorite bumper sticker of all time, seen on a VW bus:
"Gas, Grass, or Ass. Nobody rides for free"
he's a 12 and 8 guy for his career
and he’s been a starter on a team that went to the finals.
He’s not great or anything, but he’s a solid rotation guy to have and a good pair with Damp.

Damp
Contract season again? Doesn’t he have a pretty reasonable buy-out next season? If so, he’s (hopefully) going to give the Mavs another infamous Dampier contract year.
If you look at his 03-04 season, all the effort stats are WAY above the rest of his career. He’s clearly a guy who needs to be on a year to year (or heavily incentive based) contract.

I'm trying like heck to get back into the NBA after years of ignoring it.
Tough task. I want to though, because Josh will come back, the trade deadline might bring a crucial back-up center and Damp’s contract might return a franchise-boosting big trade haul next off-season.

every time dirk went to the free throw line last night, i got a touch of that feeling

I wasn't watching closely at this point, but
think about how dramatically those three quick fouls on Utah right at the start of the fourth quarter impacted the game. Dirk was 14-14 at the line in the quarter.

Our guards suck
1-5 freethrows for Terry and Barea, when all they needed was two to ice it. Unbelievable.
Barea... wtf.

How do you miss both free throws? My grandmother could hit free throws all day long.

I switched over from the WS as the inbounded the ball
phew, that was a scary 7 seconds.
the preceding post was a great success.
Fouled out with about 2:30 to go in the game.

I don't think the Mavs are going to win this game.
I hope I’m wrong. Those missed FTs were the game.

Yep, we can't score now that Dirk is out.
They’re doubling Terry and Kidd can’t hit a shot to save his life.

Damp has been kicking all kinds of ass for me.
Terry’s given me a boost too.
I don’t expect much from Barea, but Terry missed two key FTs down the stretch. Hurts a lot.

Interesting comment
In recent years Cuban is usually over the top about denying even stuff that they are talking about with their players until it hits the undeniable stage (and sometimes even after that).

Man
That was a hard decision. I’m probably going to regret it, but my love for Lopez is so damn strong.
Felton could still have a huge year being surrounded by so many good players
I really just dislike him as much as you love Lopez.
I think Hawes is going to have a big year.
I never understood the rationale behind Sean May taking one minute from him.

That's a pretty nice comparison.
Though at times, Fin was ridiculous at finishing at the rim. He dunked on everyone when he was young.
Remember to retire Fin's number, Mark.
When is Allen Iverson going to wake up?
Allen Iverson has left the Grizzlies to attend to a personal matter and it is unknown when he will rejoin the team.
While it’s possible Iverson has a true personal emergency to deal with, he met with owner Michael Eisley on Friday night and Saturday morning before leaving the team. He’s already caused problems by complaining about his role and playing time, and hasn’t even had a face-to-face conversation with his new coach. There’s no telling how this will end, but if you dropped Mike Conley, it would probably be wise to go back and get him.
Very nice win tonight
Sure looks like a contender with Howard on the floor
