Harbaugh makes a lot of sense to me
He has ties in that region and currently faces the same challenge when it comes to recruiting well despite academic demands. Yes ND is still obviously a higher profile program than Stanford (unlike places like Florida, OU, and LSU).

I don't think he has enough skins on the wall just yet

I agree he's gonna be one of ND's first calls
and he would be nuts to say no… but damn, I hope he stays in Fort Worth.

I don't think there is a chance CGP goes to ND.
Brain Kelly or John Gruden.

Pretty sure ND can afford to buyout whatever contract he has with ESPN....

Doubt they would need to buy it out
Gruden probably has an out clause that lets him walk if he wants to coach again.

They will invite him to interview...
He will go put on a good face, as one day he will want good reviews once he is ready to go somewhere…
And then he will say no, and for now be a Horned Frog

TCU to ND is a huge step.
No way he makes that step yet. Plus he has Ft Worth and North Texas in general in the palm of his hand right now. CGP doesn’t seem like the kind of guy that would want to be in a fishbowl like ND.

If Notre Dame football really wants to improve
they should join a freakin’ conference. They already have that HUGE ridiculous TV deal. If they join a conference like the Big East, they would improve their chances of making it to a BCS bowl etc which would improve their recruiting.
A baseball game is simply a nervous breakdown divided into nine innings.
How would
the TV contract work if they joined a conference? Seems like they’d be in danger of losing some of that money. And how would their chances of going to the BCS improve if they joined a conference? They already have the easiest road to the BCS of any school, with their own set of watered down requirements, and if they need to make their schedule easier or harder, it’s within their power. They have to either let dumber kids into school or find a terrific head coach. I think that’s all it boils down to.

Under Weis's tenure their recruiting was good to great.
I don’t see how joining a conference changes that.
And there always going to be one of the first teams selected for a BCS game if they qualify, simple as that. You seem to forget that they made two in Weis’s first two years.

They didn't wrongly fire Willingham in the first place
So if what you’re getting at is that the school is prejudice, please go take your immature argument elsewhere.

Isn't there some kind of rule saying they have to interview a minority coach?

In college sports? I really don't think so
In the NFL — yes, there is such a rule…the Rooney Rule I believe?

Damn, nice.
I kinda hopped off ND’s bandwagon this year and I’m rooting for TCU. Until next year, then it’s back on ND’s again.

Why?
I’m just pulling for them in whatever game they play in, which I would like it to be the NC (something different). It’s not like I’m going to go all out. It’s just temporary. I’m still supporting the Irish in whatever bowl game they play.

I don't like banwagon fans
I mean, sure I root for TCU in the sense that it’s cool that a local team does well and what not — but I’m not jumping on/off my school’s bandwagon.
