Playoff Refunds Revisited - five days left
It's hard to believe that 5+ weeks have passed since the Rangers were eliminated - especially with the World Series just ending last night. I guess in other ways, it seems like it's been 2-3 months.
I wanted to give an update to the earlier post re: Playoff Refunds
4-6 weeks after elimination was the promised date for the refunds which is next Monday night (effectively Tuesday).
With one stated exception (http://www.lonestarball.com/2009/10/20/1093305/playoff-ticket-refunds#) refunds have not been received. I purchased tickets during both presales within the first 2-3 minutes using two different cards (one card for each presale), so I think I am indicative of the group.
Hopefully this is completed (started and completed) by Tuesday.

My gut is telling me
it’s not gonna happen this soon.

that's ridiculous!!
What the hell did Big Daddy do with all that money? Don’t be surprised if you get a letter in the mail saying we’ve decided to credit you towards next years play-offs since the Rangers are shoo ins to make it.
Good help doesn't come cheap.

So did you fill something out to receive a refund?
Let me know if you receive your refund… I’m not holding my breath, luckily I didn’t spend too much on them.
my better is better than your better.

Here’s the text of the email I received on 09/30/2009
Thank you for purchasing tickets to potential American League Division Series games at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. As the Rangers have now been eliminated from postseason contention, your refund will be automatically processed within the next six weeks…….

nearly done with season ticket holders-others not quite there yet
Based on my recent discussions with persons in the Rangers season ticket office it is my understanding that they are just about wrapped up with season ticket holder playoff ticket refunds but still have a ways to go on refunds for non-season ticket holders.
I am basing this on the fact that my purchase of playoff tickets as a season ticket holder was recently credited back to my credit card (long story short, what looked like a credit on my account at the time of the prior thread on this subject actually wasn’t—the credit was actually processed on Nov. 2) but some additional tickets that I bought as part of a pre-sale before they went on sale to the general public haven’t been credited back and I was told today that this would not have occurred for at least several weeks.
By then my season ticket payment would be due anyway so it was suggested to me that the Rangers might as well just keep the money as a credit.. While that normally wouldn’t be the way I would want to handle it, given that the refund I got was in an amount far in excess of the amount still remaining on account I decided to call it a day and let them do that.
Incidentally, season ticket renewal invoices arrived yesterday. My price for lower box seats was raised $2 a seat. Depending on when you paid last year and when you pay this year, some persons with similar seats will also pay a $2 increase while others will pay the same price as last year.
Parking remains unchanged but they did significantly cut back on freebies for season ticket holders, cutting in half the number of free tickets they give season ticket holders and eliminating upgrade vouchers altogether. This continues a slow, steady erosion in these sorts of benefits from where they were at in the immediate post A-Rod era, albeit they were almost absurdly generous at that point.
i would have to describe it as a questionable move to be raising anyone’s prices and cutting the benefits of season ticket ownership at this point, , especially where the reality is that they aren’t raising the player personnel budget by one cent. The one way this works out for them is if the promise of contending next year turns out to be a reality, so demand for tickets actually increases despite the weak economy. I hope that is exactly what happens but we’ll just have to wait and see.
