Mainly posting this to cite this article... Boise St can't get quality opponents.
Bleymaier is making a nearly unheard of offer in college football scheduling – Boise will bring its popular, high-profile, top-10 team to any stadium in any town to play any big name team in America in 2011. And they don’t have to return the date in Idaho.
Is TCU scheduled to play in Sept. 3, 2011? How about Texas Tech?

Well
that’s the end of the Charlie Weis era in Notre Dame. You just don’t survive as HC when you’re the only coach to lose to Navy, TWICE, in the last 50 years…
So, ND with no Weis, no Jimmy, no Tate, a few probably will transfer out…should be a grand ’ole time in South Bend next year.

nor is it hard to realize that Jimmy’s time is coming to an end, but Tate leaving this early? He’s not even the best WR on the team, Floyd is miles better. And the assumption that players will transfer out? Players have already been transferring out because of Weis. I’d wait to see who replaces Weis, if indeed the program decides to move on. Which I doubt on everything you said.

Alright Frog fans...
Saturday is the showdown.
If you’re a TCU fan and live in the DFW area then get your ass out to that stadium Saturday night. There’s no reason to not fill AGC stadium. You have a top 5 team and a chance to go undefeated and get to a BCS bowl.
Should be a hell of a game. Both teams have a ton of talent, especially on the defensive side of the ball. TCU has the edge offensively as the Utes will be starting a frosh QB and Asiata is hurt. Dalton has looked great this year. I don’t have a good feeling about this game for my Utes. I think TCU wins, probably a 17-7 type game.
If another team from this conference gets to step up and help the MWC make a name for themselves, I’m ok with it being TCU. It can’t always be Utah and I sure as hell don’t want it to be BYU. Again, get your asses out to this game Frog fans. Create a great atmosphere and enjoy what your school has done this season.

Utah’s ass.
The biggest imposter in the Top 25 are the Utah Utes. They’ve played one quality opponent all season long (got worked) and had nothing else but cupcakes on their schedule.
Frogs roll 24-7 (and it won’t be close).

Your opinion means so much to me...
Obviously you know as much about college football as you do baseball.
Utah “got worked” by one touchdown at Oregon. Okay. So what does that make it when you lose 52-30 at home to A&M then?
Enjoy another 7-5 season for Tech. Don’t worry Josey, someday they will be able to get to one BCS bowl. Probably not two though like my Utes.
It must kill you to know that your school couldn’t hold Utah’s jock. I mean, we’re fucking Utah?!
Enjoy watching your team get waxed by Okie St. this week. GO UTES.

Tech regularly wins 8-9 games a year (give or take a game) and
and have done very well in the Big 12. It’d be fun to win more but with the schedule we play, it’s not likely and that’s okay.
Two of the top 10 (maybe top 5) programs in the country are on our schedule every year plus we also get OK State and regular swims thru the Big 12 North (which varies year to year) so navigating that schedule is never easy but it’s entertaining which is why we’re normally on television (and not Versus or the …giggle… “Mountain Network”) every week.
Are they ever going to become a program that’s a staple in the Top 10? Probably not but they’re usually one of the top 3 or 4 teams in the Big 12 and we are not only competitive with top 10 talent, we beat them.
You’re the one running smack about how good Utah is and they’re a freaking joke. You get throttled by an Oregon team (who has two losses) and then stack a bunch of wins against nothing but cupcakes. That’s why you’re 17.5 dogs.
Have fun in the Poinsettia Bowl!!

Without Sheffield, Tech is in trouble
although we get great respect from Vegas (#17 OK State opened as 2.5 point favorite at home).
If Tech wins this week, they should be able to run the table and finish second in the Big 12, meaning a second straight trip (3rd in 5 years) to the Cotton Bowl.

My wife hates sports. All of them. She could care less about who wins anything. The only game I’ve been able to get her to go to in the five+ years we’ve been married was the Utah/TCU game last season. Even she got into that game and was jumping up and down after the Utes won.
The atmosphere there was great last season. The stadium was literally shaking at the end of the game when the Utes scored because of everyone jumping up and down. I hope it will be the same way this year so the TCU fans can experience that kind of atmosphere for themselves. Hopefully the game will be as exciting as last years was too.

The game was a sell-out (because 20,000 Tech fans were there) so you have to park about a 40 minute walk away from Amon Carter. That’s almost 3 miles.
Once you make the walk, there will be a massive pile-up at the gate just trying to get in that took, oh, another 20-30 minutes to negotiate.
I went to the concession stand to buy a few hot dogs & drinks for the family. There I am with 4 hot dogs and 3 big drinks and I had the audacity to ask for a tray. The person at the concession stand looked at me like I was from Mars.
Once you actually get into Amon Carter it’s fine and maybe things have changed but in 2006 it was amateur hour and the powers that be didn’t know what the hell they were doing. They were completely unprepared to host a sell-out game against a legit D1 program.

i have to say this in a thread but I don't want to start my own
BLOUNT OF OREGON has been reinstated to play after fighting anyone and everyone after Oregon’s game against Boise St. Also, Spikes is only suspended technically 1/2 of a game for an eye-gouge, YET Dez Bryant does nothing wrong other than lie and the guy is suspended the entire season. This is what is so F’n wrong with college football. The NCAA sucks and there is no real sense of closure at the end of the season without a playoff system. FREAKIN" ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS!!!

There is also something going on with officials who are calling games for Alabama,
Florida and Texas as well. That kid from LSU had a 4th quarter interception that was taken away and Arkansas got hosed in the Florida game. I didn’t see Texas/Oklahoma but Texas Tech was bent over the counter when they went to Austin.
It behooves those conferences to do what they can to make sure those teams get to BCS bowls and those three teams are getting lotsa not so coincidental help from officials calling their games.
TCU hasn’t needed any help this year because they’ve been so much better than the cupcakes they’ve played but I’m curious to see how the Utah game is called and if this trend continues.

Oh give it a break Josey
Tech got their asses handed to them in Austin and the refs had nothing to do with it. If they did make a couple calls for texas its only payback for the abomination that was the game they called in Lubbock last year when picture evidence shows multiple holding penalties that went uncalled.
The SEC refs however have been god awful. That INT Saturday that they didn’t call, EVEN AFTER REPLAY, was unbelievable. The fact that this was the third time its happened in a game involving either Alabama or Florida really shows how the SEC is trying to manipulate it so they get two schools in BCS bowl games so they get two big paydays

"If they did make a couple calls for Texas its only payback..."
Why not just officiate the game correctly and get the call right?
You do remember there was a flag on Jordan Shipley’s td punt return (with Texas down 22-6) that was mysteriously picked up, doncha? Twas the spark that helped get the ‘Horns back in the game and it was one of the worst calls I’ve ever seen.
Tech got absolutely worked by the officials down in Austin in 2007 (Leach rarely bitches about officiating but did that day) worse than I have ever seen in my life and there was more of the same (not to the same degree) as you acknowledge in 2009. Kimble’s helmet to helmet hit on Potts (that resulted in a fumble) changed the game and insured a Texas win.
With very few exceptions, I will never complain about officiating (it is generally the crutch of the unsophisticated fan and I think calls tend to even themselves out over time) but when the University of Texas has a shot at going to one of the BCS bowls, the officials bend over backwards to let it happen.
Texas is a much better team than Texas Tech (just like you were in 2007) and the class of the Big 12 in 2009. You don’t need the help.
Just call the game straight up with no bullshit.

Kindles hit on Potts was a textbook tackle
All this pussyfooting around nowadays makes me sick. Technology has made shoulder pads so much smaller than before and helmets have actually gotten bigger with increased padding to protect against concussions. All that results in more helmet to helmet hits that aren’t on purpose. Go watch a game from the 80s or even early 90s and guys pads were so much bigger it was almost impossible to hit helmet to helmet. When it did happen it was seemingly on purpose. Now with shoulder pads that are smaller and offer more flexibilty with the same protection of the shoulders it reduces the protection to the head. And with the helmets being bigger its almost impossible nowadays to tackle someone without using your helmet. Ive seen numerous times a defender lead with their shoulder only to hit helmets.
Kindles tackle was perfect form. he drove right through Potts. Maybe if your RT had done his job and blocked Sergio it wouldn’t have happened.

The RT got beat by a great player
and Potts held the ball too long but Kindle’s helmet hit Potts directly in the jaw. It was a critical blown call by the officials which resulted in a turnover. Texas scored a TD after that and made the score 31-17.
With the score 34-24 midway thru the 4th and Tech driving, there was a bullshit offensive interference call that essentially killed the drive.
The officiating wasn’t as bad as the all-time worst game in 2007 but Tech was assessed 5 more penalties than Texas and usually in critical situations. Make no mistake, Texas is much better than Tech this year but it’d be nice to play on a level field.
For a Big 12 team to beat Texas this year, it’s going to need to be decisive because the officials will do what they can to get them into a BCS game.

Tech sucks this year
But Texas is about as overrated as it gets.
And also, Sheffield is awesome.

I don't know what they are just yet
and neither do the people who make lines in Vegas.
An unranked team on the road opens as a 2.5 point dog against a top 15 team? Something seems to be askew but I would guess that Vegas has a pretty good idea that Sheffield is expected to play.
With Sheffield they simply destroyed KState and then went on the road and kicked the shit out of Nebraska. Against Kansas, it was as though the rest of the team finally realized their QB (Potts) wasn’t going to do jack shit so they took it upon themselves to go win the game.
They are set up very well to be the best team in the Big 12 in 2010.

Do they have any bad mother fuckers lined up in recruiting?

Maybe West Virgina

Peaked?
I think they’ve been on an upward swing in recruiting serious talent since the Holiday Bowl.
Kadron Boone (WR) is gonna be a beast I think. He was recruited hard by Notre Dame, USC and Miami.
They also have a 4 star QB and RB committed. Rivals has them as the 22nd best class. Highest I’ve ever seen for Tech.

Nice,
I was afraid Crabtree and Harrell was gonna be as good as it got for them. Whose the QB?
by tyd3311 on Nov 10, 2009 1:53 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
Scotty Young
6’3’’ guy from Denton Ryan. I don’t know too much about him other than that, though.
There’s also Jacob Karam from last year who could potentially battle for the gig next season. He’s more of a running-type. I’m surprised Leach still goes after the Karams and Sheffields after the Robert Johnson fiasco.

Guess I need to get out there and see them

My opinion is predicated on Sheffield being at least
a good QB (he’s been beyond outstanding in 2.5 games) but there’s a reason he was a walk-on and is in his 4th year with the program so you never know.
This team is dotted with several freshmen & sophs in key positions (those players tend to take big steps in a hurry) and a few juniors but they need to reload on the OLine (which has been a problem).
With graduation hitting Texas, Oklahoma and Ok State very hard, we should be in pretty good position in 2010.

Graduation isn't hitting Texas too hard
Colt is leaving but we have Gilbert ready to step in his place.
Shipley is gone but we have a stable of WRs to go to. True frosh Goodwin looks like a keeper. Defensively our LBs and defensive backs are underclassmen. Our DTs are underclassmen. We lose Kindle but really texas is a pretty young team.

Losing both McCoy & Shipley is going
to cripple your offense and you’re going to be sending a freshman QB into Lubbock (probably at night).

Yeah he missed most of his senior season
and according to his coach he has met every obligation he had to come back — I’m OK with 2nd chances.
The Dez Bryant thing is ridiculous though — when the NCAA decides they want to make an example out of someone it always ends up worse than it has to be.

They didn't lose because their RB was gone
They lost because their defense was horrible.
I believe the coach and AD when they say he’s done everything they’ve asked him to do. What do you care? It’s a separate situation from what Dez is going through.
