Aside from a Lottery ticket?

It’s by the same guy who did Donnie Darko which I still can’t figure out is good or not

The only thing worse than Donnie Darko is Donnie Darko 2.

That may be.
Doesn’t mean it won’t be horrible. It’s possible the marketing is trying to get people into the theater and not focusing on the real meat of the movie, but as is, it looks like shit.

out of all book franchises available, they thought it’d make sense to take that in the direction of Sherlock Holmes? I think it would make more sense if the movie had been about Jesus Christ. At least then the Christmas release date would mean something.

Great news...
The Rangers won the WS in 2011.
Feliz won the CY Young and finished off the Cubs in Game 6.
Smoak was top 5 in MVP.
MY was hitting 7th, deal with in Mr. Franchise.
Holland won 18 games and had an ERA in the low 3’s.
The season was so impressive that Grady Sizemore just signed a FA deal for 5/95 to be the new Rangers CFer.
Now if you will excuse me, I need to get a life.

Rivers is an awful quarterback
He just inspires no confidence in me. He really represents every QB stereotype, and not in a good way.
That said, the Chargers always do well to close out the year, for whatever reason. I think they make the playoffs

by brettgardner on Nov 9, 2009 10:40 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
To be fair
(and this is a response to all of the below)
I claim fan goggles on this one. I’m a Chargers fan, and so I claim the well-established right to complain about my QB sucking in spite of all quantitative evidence to the contrary. When I see Rivers play, I think “Drew Brees should be the QB here” (Drew Brees is one of the two reasons I became a Chargers fan upon moving here; the other one is obvious) Rivers may be a solid QB in some respects. I just don’t think he’s a leader who can carry a team on his own like Brees is.
Go Rice Owls!

Brees, with his 55-51 career mark, can carry a team on his own?

Rivers is one of the top 5-8 QBs in the NFL.
He has a mediocre coach and a 30-something has been RB (who nobody wants to tell that he’s done) as baggage and only one very good WR.
Give that team somebody like Jason Campbell, Jake Delhomme or Jamarcus Russell and they’d go 4-12.

stop that
I told you I’m not rational about this. I’m an uber-rational baseball fan. I don’t pay enough attention to football to discuss this at that level. I watch maybe five hours of Chargers football a year, and so I make rash judgments on the guy. I miss Brees, because I was a fan of his throughout college and when he was drafted. I hated Doug Flutie, since for some strange reason they started him over Brees, and I hate Rivers, since they dumped Brees because of his whining.
Go Rice Owls!

I hear the same thing from Cowboy fans who bitch
about Romo from time to time. They don’t appreciate what they have.
I’m a Raider fan and that team isn’t going anywhere until Al Davis dies and they get another QB other than Russell.
Put Phil Rivers or Tony Romo on the Raiders and that’s a 10 win team (even with Al Davis). He’s a big strong QB with presence and an excellent arm. With maturity he’s going to become an even better leader.
Be happy with what you have.

They tend to forget the late Aikman years,
Chad Hutchinson, Quincy, Vinnie T and an over the hill Bledsoe.
Cowboys have been historically very spoiled by the QB play they’ve received – Meredith, Morton, Staubach, White, Aikman and then they somehow stumbled upon Romo (who I believe is in the same range as Rivers as a QB).

Yikes.
As a starter, 3 of his 4 seasons he’s had a passer rating of 92.0 or higher (93.2 career). The one that wasn’t was an 82.4. He’s passed for 3100+ yards every year and passed 4000 last year. A career 62.0% passer (60.5% this year) with a 7.6 YPC (8.2 this year) and a 92 to 42 career TD to Int ratio.

Good question..
Who’s the next tier? Those 3 guys seem like locks to give you 6-8 great games, another 6-8 good ones, and a couple mediocre games. The next tier can give you 4-6 great games, but spend more of their time in the mediocre to good category and throw in the occasional clunker. For me, in no particular order:
McNabb-sure he gets hurt, but he’s also generally very good
Romo-see above, without getting hurt as often
Warner-damn he’s old, but he can still win you games
Favre-see above
Rivers-yup and he’s not new to the list
Roethlishamburger-the dirty secret in Pittsburgh is that their O-line isn’t that good and they haven’t run the ball consistently over the past couple years…yet their offense isn’t awful
Schaub-this year finally gets him into the second tier
With Hasselbeck and Palmer on the DL and Ryan, Rodgers, and Flacco as the up-and comers. I don’t know what to do with Cutler. He belongs on the list, but I want to see him do better in Chicago first before I add him back there.
So that’s 3 top tier, 7 next tier with 15 total. I think I’m good with this…
