It should have never been considered, lol.

Love to be with a brother of mine.
How he'd love to find your tongue in his teeth,

Wrapped in boxes so tight, sounding only at night as you sleep." ~Jeff Mangum; Neutral Milk Hotel

I think Warsh will enter Byrd on the Opening Day scorecard at cleanup just as a memorial to the good times they had

For all the shit that Wash took for slotting Byrd in the 4 hole

he got some pretty damn good production from him in that spot. As a cleanup hitter in ’09, Byrd posted a .306 .373 .560 .932 line. Not too shabby.

4 1sts again next year

baby, I feel like we might be the New England Patriots of the MLB… except we have one one playoff game in our entire existence… haha

But, you gotta just love the way this is setting up? I mean we have one of the top 2 or 3 systems according to everyone even after graduating a ton of young, productive players to the bigs and we have it now set up were we get 4 1st rounders next draft with a well proven scouting department. We are in it for the long haul boys.

Feliz says his greatest thrill was striking out Boston Red Sox DH David Ortiz, one of his heroes. Yet, when he called to tell his parents, his mother had a request: Strike out New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez, too.
"So when I did that," Feliz says, "I told my mom, 'There you go. There's your present. Don't ask me to strike anyone else out, OK?'

by blalock84 on Dec 10, 2009 3:40 PM CST reply actions

not to nitpick, but

the two compensation picks aren’t first round picks, they’re sandwiched between the first and second rounds. Also, the compensation pick for not signing Purke will have to be used on a “safe bet” kind of player who is guaranteed to sign, as the Rangers lose leverage with the do-over.

by Randy Richardson on Dec 10, 2009 5:28 PM CST up reply actions

It doesn't have to be a safe bet

If the Rangers have money, they’ll be able to do the same thing they’ve done in past years. If not, they can still get a great player but just won’t be able to jump on a player that dropped for money concerns.

By 2028, Mark Teixeira will be in the HOF.

Yes, Yes, I know this

but we have been very, very effective with this sandwhich picks and with hopefully new ownership coming in to spen some money, I entirely expect to JD to go back to spending big bucks in the draft. He’s been very effective with it recently and with hopefully even more money to deal with, he’ll do it again.

Yeah, and to sort of defend your definition of them as "first rounders"

While they’re not “first rounders” per se, they end up being de-facto first round picks when you take clear first-round talents in the supplemental round who fell out of the top 30 because of injury or signability concerns.

Tanner Scheppers and Julio Borbon weren’t first round picks per se, but they were clearly first round guys.
