Evan Grant noted this in the comments of one of his blogpost
If ownership moves towards a resolution another $3-5 million or so might come available.
Throw a 1 in front of that 3-5 and we'll be cooking!!!!

Sadly, that's what the Rangers will probably do with it
Sign more scrubs.
I’d get me a Troy Glaus or a non-tendered Jack Cust though.

Troy Glaus and Jack cust aren't scrubs.
At least not yet. Wildcards maybe, but high upside wildcards like Harden.

Known for a taking a shitload of walks, and until last year, hitting for some pretty good power in a pitchers park.
I have strong hopes that as a lefty he’d revive his mashing ways in Arlington. If he gets non-tendered and we pass I will be endlessly pissed off.

What makes you think hes gonna come here and sign a one year deal for 3-4 million?
Bryan Smith (12:17:17 PM PT): Justin Smoak and Josh Hamilton. The AL West might just have found their Bash Brothers, v. 2.0.
He's coming off a down year and the RBiA is the ideal place for a LHB to revive his value
So why not?

It wasn't that down of a year
He walked about 20 times less than in 08 and had 8 home runs turn to singles. He still hit 25 home runs which teams will want. He is what he is. A guy whos gonna hit for low average, walk alot, and hit a decent amount of home runs.
I think if he gets non tendered there wll be more than just the Rangers lining up for his services and he can probably fenagle a 2 year deal with a possible 3rd year option out of someone.

Teams aren't even willing to give guys like Nick Johnson multi-year deals right now
I don’t really think Cust is gonna get multiple years, though he could.
Hey, offer him an option then, like Harden. But he’s a guy I wanna make a serious run at if he’s out there.

Johnson is a huge injury risk
Cust isn’t

OT: Arredando TJ surgery
I don’t know if him being gone is a good thing or a bad thing…
the preceding post was a great success.
I'm following the instructions on the jersey

I kinda want his jersey
but I don’t want to pay money for someone that’s only going to be here one year, maybe two if he likes it.

I mean t-shirt jerseys too.

For some reason this reminds me
that i’ll finally have a good pitcher to use as the rangers in baseball games. using millwood against all the aces of the league was a competitive disadvantage ><
the preceding post was a great success.
See, I usually didn't start Millwood against anybody that tough
If I had to, I usually simmed past those games.

I mean online specifically
Against human competition you need to use the best on the team.. and sadly it was Millwood. Meanwhile every single game its against CC, Santana, etc.

speaking of videogames
i rented the UFC game on a whim and just wasted the last couple hours making custom characters…. Josh Hamilton destroyed Michael Young and Dirk Nowitzki.
Pretty fun game actually, even as someone whose only seen maybe 3 UFC fights ever.

I’ve sent a bug report to SBN.

There was a while yesterday afternoon
when SBN sites wouldn’t load for me at all.

I imagine everyone's seen this by now
But apparently Jason Kendall is gonna get from the Royals pretty much what Pudge got from the Nats.
Piece of shit catchers are really freaking expensive this offseason.

that's disgusting
he hasn’t been good since 2004
and the Royals continue to show why they don’t get better
Well, they did release Mike Jacobs yesterday
That’s something.

i hadn't looked at his final numbers
yikes, worse than CD did.
the preceding post was a great success.
Scary thing is, Jacobs actually played more games and got more PA's than Davis
And unlike Davis he actually got even worse in the second half.

In fairness, Dayton Moore probably didn't know you could demote players

both of those guys
have some value, but it boggles the mind as to why a GM would guarantee a second year. Just not smart.

Here's a thought
Given what JD’s done (and pretty good reviews of same), is it possible MLB loosens the purse strings in the interim before a new owner is selected? It’s not increasing the sales price since those have already been submitted but it could make the Rangers a more competitive team, which is a good thing (I think).
It breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart. The game begins in the spring, when everything else begins again, and it blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings, and then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops and leaves you to face the fall alone. You count on it, rely on it to buffer the passage of time, to keep the memory of sunshine and high skies alive, and then just when the days are all twilight, when you need it most, it stops.
Who said it fell through?

OT: Great win by the Stars
If this team starts to play consistently, you have to tink they have a chance in the West because they have the talent for sure.

LOL
I swear, this team is going to give me a heart attack.
One day I think I’ve got a peg on them — an 8-seed if anything who has deficiencies at the blue line and a schizophrenic goaltender. Then they go do something like this, fight through a terrific night by a goaltender and notch two points on the road against the best team in the West (according to the standings).
What do tigers dream of when they take a little tiger snooze? Do they dream of mauling zebras, or Halle Berry in her Catwoman suit?
+1
Just watching guys like Niskanen and Grossman play the way did tonight makes you just wonder what can happen if Marty plays the way hes capable of. If he plays anywhere near the level he did in the playoffs a few years back, this team’s set
