OT: Bengals WR Chris Henry dead at 26
ESPN.com is reporting that Cincinnati Bengals receiver Chris Henry is dead at 26, "one day after suffering serious injuries upon falling out of the back of a pickup truck in what authorities describe as a domestic dispute with his fiancee."
To editorialize -- obviously this is a shame not only because he was so young, but because it seemed like he was finally getting his life together. Henry had a bunch of legal troubles early in his career, but it looked like maybe he had moved past them.
Sad news.

Holy crap
I saw the headline that he was in serious condition…but I guess I just figured that meant bad, but not life-threatening. That’s pretty incredible.
Also, it’s crazy what the Bengals organization has had to go through this year, with the sudden death of ‘team mom’ and wife of Defensive Coordinator Mike Zimmer, Vikki Zimmer.
If Brad Pitt is playing Beane who do you want playing you?
JD: Eddie Guardado.
its hard to believe
that they could hold it together after all this

Sad news. RIP Chris.

Sad
Hope the best for his family. Its just sad to see how people with all this immense talent just get in trouble with the law. It looked like he had turned around his life this year with the Bengals, but I guess that season ending arm injury may have helped him lose focus again. RIP

This sucks
Guy had really turned his life around. Now 3 kids lose their Dad right before Christmas. Damn.
That's awful
Even though the guy certainly had his issues, it really seemed like he was attempting to turn his life around and be a good man…which is all any of us can hope to do.
I remember having an odd glimmer of hope that he would sign with the Cowboys
that I couldn’t explain and never had the balls to express publicly. Now, I can’t help thinking if he had signed here, would he still be alive? Very odd thought.
Terrible, terrible situation. Poor kid goes form being called a one man crime spree by a judge to having all signs of putting his life together and moving into adulthood to this.
Indescribable.

Dying young generally sucks to hear about, and leaving kids behind is horrible
But I don’t understand some of the sentiments in here. The consensus seems to be that he was chasing down his wife.

I'm not sure what that means
I mean, it’s certainly a weird situation that he put himself in, and I suppose you could say that’s indicative that his judgment hadn’t really improved, and that’s pretty reasonable.
Was that what I should have read there, or am I off?

Bengals/Rangers Fan
Somehow life’s journey has led me to become a Ranger fan and a Bengals fan.
I guess I just pull for the underdog.
Chris Henry was one.
That's shitty...
I heard some of his coaches/teammates say he was trying to turn his life around.

Strange...
in his Wiki entry, there’s this: “On March 31, 2008, Henry was alleged to have punched a man named Gregory Meyer, 18, and thrown a beer bottle through the window of his car. Henry claimed it was a case of mistaken identity and also that he thought it was somebody else that owed him money.”
It’s a case of mistaken identity and also he thought it was somebody else that owed him money? What kind of cockamamie defense is that?
