Yawn
I did this as a side gig/fun for about a year, busting places for showing PPV/UFC etc. The pay was very good, and no shortage of clubs, bars, lounges, etc to bust.
I say they have no hope of achieving any meaningful slowdown.

How did you get that job?

If you are interested, I could pass along an email to the dude.

Considering most of the sites aren't US based
they might find it difficult to shut them all down.
Also, if ufc ppv’s didnt cost a fortune more people might buy them, and if mlb didnt have the stupid blackout rules more people might buy their service.

Close to $50 per month

The UFC puts on way too many cards out a year.
They need to settle it down and worry about Quality over Quantity. Most of the cards are absolute shit.
I echo the statement about MLB blackout rules, stupid.

I can definitely agree with that,
once every 3 months would be perfect.

I have started to feel the same
I just really got into UFC about 18 months ago. I was buying the card every month. Around September, the junk card they put on here in Dallas, I stopped buying them all. Too many cards and with the high rate of fighters being injured in training you end up with very mediocre fill in fights on the main card.

A "terrible" UFC card
is still lightyears better than any “good” boxing card. I would get all the UFC PPV’s if I wasn’t poor as hell.
The thing is boxing cards on PPV aren't twice a month every month.
Most of them are on HBO or Shotime.
The Super 6 boxing tournament going on right now thru showtime is absolutely great, and it’s free.
There’s so many scrub UFC fighters fighting on PPV it’s disgusting.
Boxing on the other hand, most of the time only puts premier fights on PPV. Can’t say the same about the UFC.

I still love the UFC
but I’m not shelling out 60 bucks to watch Rich Franklin fight some other scrub as the main event. Unless it’s a title fight or a major contender fight, it should be on Spike or Versus

Congress can tell those fuckers to end their ridiculous blackout policies
and most of us fans wouldn’t be reduced to such measures
No shit
maybe not so much for UFC since it’s PPV, but MLB blackouts are infuriating.

does anybody else get bad load times
with the new SBN. It’s getting annoying. I’m not having problems on other sites. just curious

Started using Chrome recently
it seems to load much faster than Firefox and IE. Just installed Opera a few days ago, so I may dive into that real soon. It seems pretty nice from what I can tell so far.

Quick Opera question
Why would you not use the Turbo feature? Still trying to figure out just how much of a difference it makes.

Yeah, for me
it sometimes loads the first two items and just stops loading after that. Nothing further down, no fanposts or fanshots.
Remember to retire Fin's number, Mark.
Wait...I'm confused
I live in Houston.
I get every Stars game on FSN.
I get every Rangers game on FSN (used to get all of the local broadcast ones to when I was on DirecTV – now on ATT U-verse).
I get ZERO Mavs games unless they are on ESPN or TNT.
I get most Cowboys games unless they are playing at the same time the Texans are, and then it’s inconsistent (sometimes the networks decide to show the Cowboys anyways on FOX despite Houston playing on CBS).
Why don’t I get Mavs games? It seems like the NBA rules are even more retarded than MLB’s in my situation. If I got NBA League Pass, would I get all Mavs games?
Greatest Inventions Ever? 1. TiVO, 2. Boobs, 3. Baseball
well, i think i answered my 2nd question
I can’t even get NBA League Pass on ATT U-Verse.

You could email these people
And ask if they will have NBA soon for their majik box. They already have a deal with MLB, and i am getting one next season just for that.

Rokus
Those things are pretty cool. My parents have one and they use it for Netflix mostly….only problem is Netflix’s streaming HD selection is pretty limited from what I remember.

Netflix
I thought about trying it again since my bluray player can stream netflix. But I always hear the streaming hd selection sucks

I must say though that adding MLB.com to it
is a big upgrade in my eyes….

Oh yeah, that is why I will have one in '10
Also, my parents want me to test drive it and maybe replace dish network in their RV (and save $60/mo). Just not sure if a wifi connection would support it.

Do they have anything like that for soccer?

I’m a fan of disruptive technology. Gouging people for stuff because they control the distribution channels is all nice and good until the internet comes along and you no longer control the distribution channels. I’m looking at you, music industry.
I do not pay for services unless they are extremely compelling. MLB.tv is, in my opinion, extremely compelling. Not perfect, but really quite good when I can get all Ranger games, in HD, with the home feed, on my laptop or on a Roku box.
I use streams for NFL and NBA games though!
mlb.tv is great if you don't live in the Rangers viewing area
otherwise you get the gay MLB blackout restrictions. I liked it last year for what I was able to view from other teams

I remembr watching the first...
4 or 5 UFC’s. Gracie, Shamrock, Severn, Taktarov.
What are they at now? UFC 452?

110 or so
I remember those first ones also. NC17 rating at the video store. Tournament style fighting with no rules. That was funny to watch.
