Talking about his season last year, how it was cut short, but not his decision.
Being on the 40 man roster, ..
He knows what he needs to do when he is working, and when there’s an opportunity, he’ll be ready to play.
“He doesn’t know what’s happening” with the team back home, hahaha.
He knows that Texas is aware of him and how well he is doing. Talking about being ready physically and mentally.
He speaks too fast after 3:00, it’s really hard for a non-native to catch it without rewatching it. You can tell that he’s bright though, very polite, and has a good disposition.

I don’t think you really understand Spanish. You’re faking! I mean, c’mon, you could have totally just made up what you said based off years of cliches.

A few highlights after 2:00
-“This year you had a 11-6 record for the Texas Rangers’ AA affiliate, and for me. When there’s a Venezuelan ballplayer in that organization, because there are few Venezuelans who’ve made it there, the most recent case being Armando Galarraga, who was their pitcher and then they let him walk to Detroit. This year with Elvis Andrus who is looking to grab a lot of votes in the American League as the Texas Rangers Shortstop, and the latest appearance of Omar Vizquel. Have you talked much with these last two ballplayers I’ve mentioned?”
[too much to translate]
Poveda pretty much says that he idolized Vizquel as a kid (“I had a poster of him on my wall for so long, and then having him so close…”). He learned a lot from Omar (in spring training?) and that Venezuelans stick together like family over here. And he and Elvis went out with Omar, too.
He says that he and Elvis are friends (“pana”), wishes him the best, and they’ll soon play together.
-“Does Texas have any restrictions on your workload?”
-"They told me it was going to be the same. 35 innings…. but they just told me to pitch consciously (?)…. the manager is not going to pitch me frequently, but he’ll pitch me in the end.
He asks him whether or not he’s more comfortable starting or relieving…
-“I can’t tell you right now, because I got hurt last year. Last season was short and I did it as a reliever. It’s a matter of testing the mound. I had been a starter [for most of my career], and it’s a little difficult coming out of the bullpen cause [I have to get ready] in a matter of seconds. And having to get ready quickly [whereas, as a starter] I’d take my time getting ready physically and mentally.”
(next questions iare about the Venezuelan team and the possibility of their fourth straight championship and what he has to say to the fans of Tigres)
Venezuelans sure say “sabe” (you know?) a lot. Anyway, sorry for the mess.
