Angriest about which offseason deal or non-deal thus far

LSB has seen much gnashing of teeth and spate of anger toward Hicks for the Rangers' financial situation and their inability to plug FAs into the team's holes. Which of the deals and non-deals listed in the poll below is the one that set you off thus far in the offseason. Add more to the comments if I've overlooked some.

75 words or so of Christmas....

Chestnuts roasting on an open fire, Jack Frost nipping on your nose, Yuletide carols being sung by a choir, And folks dressed up like Eskimos.

Everybody knows a turkey and some mistletoe, Help to make the season bright. Tiny tots with their eyes all aglow, Will find it hard to sleep tonight.

They know that Santa's on his way; He's loaded lots of toys and goodies on his sleigh. And every mother's child is going to spy, To see if reindeer really know how to fly.

And so I'm offering this simple phrase, To kids from one to ninety-two, Although its been said many times, many ways, A very Merry Christmas to you

FWIW, I'm pretty darn happy with the offseason if the Rangers

pick up Thome and Sheets.

does Duchscherer do anything for you?

If he could be had for a couple mil?

What a drag it is being broke.

I've been meaning to look into Duchs a little more in depth. I think I would be happy with getting him on the cheap.

I thought I added the poll option "The Lowell trade would've made me angriest if it went through." If that's your choice, reply to this post.

Absolutely.

So glad the Red Sox are stupid. They have again helped us out in the trade market.

I think Glaus for 2m+ incentives

is #1 so far.

I'm pretty sure I read that Glaus didn't want to DH...

he wasn’t going to come here

Adding Lee to the M's rotation

is mind numbing.

You didn't add "Lackey to the Sox" on your list

I’m so angry I won’t be able to yell “Horseface!” to the television every time the Angels play the Rangers now.

(Wife) "So what do you want to watch on the T.V.? UFC or porn?"
(Husband) "Hmm... well, porn, I guess."

I just didn't think Lackey would've happened even if the Rangers had the money. Everyone else who's angry about that, reply here.

Can't be upset about any transaction

Without some insight to the circumstances. Deals don’t happen in a vacuum. And I don’t know the if’s and’s and but’s of things we might have wanted to happen that didn’t happen, or the dealings that went down on things that did happen we don’t like. Being basically broke until the ownership formally changes is bad enough.

Part of what I was getting at was for those who really became aware of the Rangers broke-ness through

a particular deal/no-deal to name that point at which it really hit home and made them angry.

Being as broke as we are

and wasting what little money we do have on Darren Oliver is what kills me.

by TRanger on Dec 23, 2009 3:28 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

Right now would you rather

have Purke signed or have Darren Oliver? Similar money, I would have much preferred Purke in the minors than Oliver, but maybe that wasn’t a possibility during the season but was a possibility here in the offseason. Still frustrating if you ask me…

my better is better than your better.

by rangerjake on Dec 23, 2009 4:30 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

Similar money?

Purke wanted 6 million

Was not a possibility in the off-season. The deadline to sign Purke was late this summer.

I'm not angry at any single transaction

just at the general situation.

Johnson and Vazquez both going to the Yanks

When we could’ve reasonably outbid them both times if we had some goddamn cash is what gets me the most.

But all of it ticks me off.

Except for Millwood for Ray. I’m of the opinion Millbone was gonna blow next season, and I’m glad he’s gone.

I failed my LSB ethics test.
