Rangers 2009 Top 10 Plays

One of my Ranger buddies told me I should do a Rangers Top 10 plays for the 2009 season, what do you guys think?  Any ideas on what plays would make your list...

So far, I have thought/gatherd the following...

Feliz debut
that Holland 2-hit? shutout
Kinds 30th steal
Andrus 5? steal night
Andrus in the outfield grass (take your pick)
CD stands foul ball catches

Any other ideas?  Put them in the comments and I will see if we can decide on 10 good ones...

How would you feel about using this thread to establish some candidates, then we do a top 10 countdown?

Yep.

I’m gay for Elvis Andrus.

What do tigers dream of when they take a little tiger snooze? Do they dream of mauling zebras, or Halle Berry in her Catwoman suit?

Ahmm...

WE’RE gay for Elvis.

You have to share.

The Johjima put out had a great call by Nadel

Elvis getting Johjima is it for me.

I literally could not believe my eyes when he made that play. And I lauuuughed and lauuuuughed.

Probably forgotten

The HR Cruz hit in Seattle that measured 426 (IIRC) but at that point hit an I-beam upright hard enough to sound like a bell being rung. Not the farthest, but possibly the hardest hit ball I’ve ever seen.

Even though we lost the game, the play where Bucholz was pinch running for the Red Sox,

I believe it was Pedroia (?) who hit it off the LF wall, Bucholz was studdering and had no clue what to do, I was sitting on the 3rd base side, I was screaming along with everybody else “Go home with it! Home!!! Home!!!” they threw him out at the plate. That’s the loudest I’ve heard TBIA since the Delluci double.

So should we use these plays as a measuring stick and then do a top 10 community project to pick the top 10?

Does anyone have the link to D Shep's Feliz highlights?

That whole montage of strikeouts is one big highlight for me.

by Hull Fan on Dec 23, 2009 4:11 PM CST reply actions

Murphy's wall-fence catch in LF.

The camera angle from behind the fence that shows him bending the fence back a foot or two was pretty awesome. I really enjoyed watching that play.

Others:
- Definitely any and all Elvis plays.
- Feliz debut.
- The INSANE Buchholz/MY play back in August. That might be #1.
- Borbon’s 5-hit night/ridiculous amount of steals.
- Kins 30th steal.
- MY walk-off against KC in the red unis. That was awesome. Plus his walk-off a few games before that.

There are others I’m sure I’ve forgotten.

If you want to make this a highlight reel for the team you're going to have to make it 20..

..b/c Elvis is going to occupy at least 10 of the spots.

Pretty sure we didn't have a triple play.

I remember when we went back to back to CF and this one douchebag twice fucked up going for the ball

Also that one HR to the grass where the little kid comes out of the pile with the ball while everyone else is still in a pile looking for it

that save by Francisco against the BoSox

in the last game of the series in Arlington. That had to be one of the most heartfelt and greatest moments of the year.

The Andrus stab in the outfield grass is the best play of 2009

And really it’s not even close

That play signified Elvis’s arrival. Johjima wasn’t even out, but still… everybody witnessed first-hand what Andrus could do that Young couldn’t.

Number one, and again, not even close

agreed

Feliz’s debut has to be #2 or up there. That was incredible too.

My favorite game was when Holland dominated the M's on the trade deadline.

That was fucking incredible. I was practically whooping with every strike.

He did it against the Angels too

But that was later. The game against the M’s right near the trade deadline, when there where all the rumors about trading him for Halladay whirling… that was incredible.

Yep.

Went 8 2/3 and had a shutout, but left and (Madrigal?) he ended up with 1 ER to his tab for the night. But he was electric. I think he had like 3 hits allowed or something? 2?

Yeah, he had a 1-hitter going into the 9th

Then Ichiro poked a grounder up the middle and Warner the Troll came in and blew the shutout.
