Kirkman again
But you could justify voting for just about anyone on the list at this point. I think Kirkman’s got the best bet of anyone on the list to effect the major league team.

Velazquez
5 tool talent that has some results (including both power and plate discipline) to back up the skills.
What a drag it is being broke.
early results
Telis, Escobar, and Wieland getting some deserved attention. But I think the people that are voting Hurley here must not realize what he is up against. He’s just not likely to have much success IMO.

I understand exactly what he is up against
I don’t think people understand what the other guys are up against.
Velazquez is a 21 year old who has only played in short season ball and while he had a solid season, it wasn’t anything outstanding. Telis is still learning the catching position and, in his only stateside experience, he decided to stop taking walks. Wieland still has to go through Bakersfield and doesn’t have a TORP ceiling.
As for Escobar, I’m a big fan of his and love what he did as a 17 year old in the AZL. Still, he was a 17 year old in the AZL. He still has quite a long way to go in his development.
Velazquez is a 21 year old with 243 ABs in short season ball and while his numbers were good, they weren’t outstanding. He’s going to get his first taste of full season ball as a 22 year old. The talent is there, but he’s still a long ways away and isn’t going to have the benefit of being young for his league unless he’s jumping to AAA anytime soon.
Telis only has stateside experience in the AZL and still is raw as a catcher. There is a lot to like with him, but he’s still having to work on being a catcher in addition to developing as a hitter. That’s quite a lot to ask of an 18 year old. Its still possible that he ends up like a pre-injury MaxRam who has a promising bat but no real position to play.
I’m not down on Wieland or Escobar at all, but neither is considered a future ace and both still have a long way to go until they start competing for a spot on the ML roster.
Now compare that to Hurley. Hurley is going to be 24 next season and will be aiming towards pitching for the ML team. The only real question mark for him is health, which we have been getting promising reports about. Yes this is a big question mark, but a guy like Scheppers is ranked 4th in the system despite having a shoulder that could blow at any moment. I fail to see how any of the guys on the list have any more of a guarantee than Hurley to ever have success in the Majors.
By 2028, Mark Teixeira will be in the HOF.

Geez, Poveda musta made a late push to win the last one
This winter list is really odd.

Yah
This system’s got a chance to get interesting again soon…4 early picks this summer.
So many tweeners right now.

The Beavan voters love Hurley
This is ridiculous. Hurley’s surgery is harder to come back from than TJ.
A baseball game is simply a nervous breakdown divided into nine innings.
True
but getting that close to the Majors is hard for any prospect to do. The attrition rate being what it is for minor leaguers, Hurley’s chances at contributing aren’t much worse if at all than any of the guys on that list.

Exactly what I've said before
He profiles out like a High A or young for the league AA player in that the unceratinity it high but the talent level is strong. I know he isn’t Perez or Feliz, but Hurley would be a top 10 in today’s system without the injuries (assuming he was just coming up). This is my reason for my placement of him around 15, and to me, this ranking is conservative. To be fair and balanced, I’m a homer and an optimist.

Same for me and Weiland
It’s been so long I kinda forgot why I was voting for him over Telis and Velazquez at this point.
