Sunday morning Rangers things
Evan Grant has a story in the DMN that runs down some top 10s in D/FW sports over the past decade. I have to question whether UT really should be included -- it is in Austin, after all, not the Metroplex.
Eddie Guardado has officially signed a minor league deal with the Nats.
And...uh, that's about it this morning, it seems. There may not be much more Rangers news, really, until spring training starts.

His last year was 2000, I think
Maybe that’s why he was left out?
Surely they’re going to acquire a bat before ST aren’t they? I hope….

Surely there will be some type of trade or signing to fill the DH spot, right? I’d also be unpleasantly surprised if they don’t bring in a utility candidate or two.
What a drag it is being broke.
yeah..I didn't get that comment either.
There will actually likely be a decent amount of more news before ST. So that just doesn’t make since.
Probably
But you’re talking about, most likely, signing someone like a Ryan Garko or someone like that. It is still going to be relatively low-level type moves.

At this point, I would be happy with Garko signing here.

Rangers aiming for John freaking Garland ?
Nick Cafardo says Texas is emerging as the leader for his services.
Puke. Link. Vomit.
What a drag it is being broke.
hopefully.....
…..it’s just another case of someone far away from the scene thinking “The Rangers always need pitching. Let’s list them as the frontrunners for the washed-up arm of the day.”

What's wrong with Garland,
He is gonna come fairly cheap and be a decent number 3-4 veteran innings eater. I see nothing wrong with the idea.
I don’t have a problem with them taking a risk on a pitcher that is more likely to give you more innings than say a Ben Sheets or even a Rich Harden.

Well let me rephrase that,
he might not come fairly cheap, but odds are he won’t break the bank.

We have other needs that need to be addressed with little money to deal with (apparently)
The last thing we need right now is another starter to compete with the 8-10 decent other options going in for one spot right now.
We don't need anymore pitching though.
Why waste an of our limited resources on something that isn’t a significant improvement over some of our other guys.
MLBTR says....
….“A market is beginning to form for Jon Garland and the Rangers are the early frontrunners”
Dear Lord, I hope not.
Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe offered that nugget. Hopefully he’s way off.

He also said the Rangers might prefer Dye over Guerrero, because he can still play the OF.
Oh please no to Dye.

I'm a UT fan, but I couldn't agree more on not including it in DFW stories.
I don’t think it would have happened before the SMU death penalty and the demise of the SWC.
I guess I can see why the local news and TV might want to play up the local players angle, but VY and Colt are certainly not local.
