hmmm....I think it's gonna be a runaway
A baseball game is simply a nervous breakdown divided into nine innings.
Obviously Smoak...
things will start to get interesting at #5 though. I still like me some MM.

yeah...it does start to get more difficult
I would lean more towards Ross or Font. I feel MM has to stay healthy for a full season, but he’s definitely still a great talent.

Just curious
If Justin Smoak turns out to be a switch hitting John Olerud, would you be satisfied?

Olerud in '93, hell yes.
Gracchus (about Obama): I think he knows what America is. America is the mob. Conjure money for them and they'll be distracted. Take away their freedom and still they'll roar. The beating heart of America is not the paper of the Constitution, it's the power of the media. He'll bring them debt - and they will love him for it.

A career of '93 Olerud goes down as one of the 3 best first basemen of all time
The question is Olerud overall, not his outlier year.

say you get his age 22 through 27 seasons
We’ll ignore his rookie season, since that could be basically equivalent to Smoak’s year in the minors last season. Ignoring that season, and the handfull of games that Olerud played in the year he was drafted, you’d have six seasons (1991 to 1996), with one of those (93), being a near MVP quality campaign, with an average line of 297 / 399 / 477. I’d certainly take that.
The reason I bring it up is that some people seem to turn their nose up at an Olerud comp, that was my first impression as well, but the fact is that if we get something similar to Olerud production out of Smoak, that would be a huge accomplishment.

I'll take a .295/.398/.465 career line all freaking day long, thank you very much.
Lack of power is not this offense’s problem, after all.

Can't you see who voted for who?

where does Moreland rank for you?
you seem to be a pretty big skeptic or just are not that high on Moreland

did you see Lucas' report today?
Max has heated up in winter league. I was thrilled to see that.

Yep...
a healthy MaxRam in 2010 would be a huge boost to this system.
If he starts hitting like he was in Frisco I’d be ecstatic.
"The only good is knowledge and the only evil is ignorance."-Socrates
that would excite me.
it would be perfect if we need more offense from our catcher’s position and give Max a chance later in the season. Hopefully his defense can continue to improve.
I, also, really like Moreland, but I wouldn’t put him above MaxRam if Max is healthy. All Moreland does is hit. I look forward to seeing what he’ll be able to do with more time in AAA

Crap, I was reading the stuff on MaxRam, eating a fish taco...
…and I accidentally voted for Max Ramirez….
Can you erase my vote or something?

Naw but
It not going to matter any with Smoak running away with it.

It's too bad you can't do two polls in one post
Cause it would’ve been convenient to do 3 and 4 at the same time, and then move along to the debate at #5.
That’s where it starts for me. I really don’t know who I’d rank #5.

should’ve just skipped this one and the next one altogether.

Should I just skip this one and #4 and go on to #5 AJM?

Just do #4 now
With a notation in the post to remind people to vote for #3 as well, and we can do #5 tomorrow.

No, for crying out loud
I didn’t even get to vote for #2, some of us aren’t on here every minute on the weekends…
I don’t care how much of a runaway it is, the discussion is good and you need to give people a chance to check in and vote.

Oh, wait
I did vote for #2, hurriedly this afternoon…my point still holds. :)

Yeah...
really no rush with these. It’s a long offseason.
In fact, I say after the top 5 we wait 2 days in between votes. Like you say, some LSBers can’t get on the site everyday.

I''ll probably take the day before/after and Christmas off.

It's okay
They save it up for small bursts and it’s all the better when it comes. It we had Christmas 18 times a year, no one would look forward to it.

well, for me
it was between Smoak and Riley Cooper.
What is this, Horseville? Because I'm surrounded by naysayers.
I'm going to do something this off-season once all the big prospect lists are out.
I think I’m going to take everyone’s top 10 (including ours) and put it together MVP-ballot-ish for a composite top 10+ ranking. Just out of interest.
Smoak time
We play out the string with Scheps tomorrow then punches start flying.
Look at the comments under Jeff Wilson's blog post on dallasnews.com. What a bunch of rocket scientists.- Keith Law
Scheppers for me
Yeah, I know, a futile effort.

And the little bastard threw it for a swinging strike three in a 3-2 count. He’s blessed. And ballsy.
Feliz, Smoak, Scheppers, Perez for me.
So, Scheppers got my vote.
Pro baseball has always been a dream, so this is pretty freakin’ cool out here. -- Tim Steggall, undrafted Rangers minor leaguer.
Why would that be?
Wouldn’t you vote for Smoak ’til he came off the list then? Since you have him ahead of Scheppers.
