Rangers outright Willie Eyre
Per Evan Grant, Willie Eyre has cleared waivers and accepted an outright assignment to AAA.
So you know how I said the 40 man roster was at 39 in my last post? Ignore that...it is now at 38.

I assume Arias will be dropped off the 40-man as well
at some point this offseason, or at least I hope so.
A baseball game is simply a nervous breakdown divided into nine innings.
I have a feeling he is going to go to spring training and allowed to compete for the UTIL role
And if he doesn’t make it then DFAd at the end of spring

that would be fine
he has a slim to none chance of becoming our utility guy. i think it’s pretty obvious he is not a MLer

Why waste any time with Arias?
Remember how bad he was in those games (or was it only one game?) in Oakland when they called him up?

Whats the rush to drop him off the 40 so quick?
Unless we need the roster spot for someone whats the rush?

A lot because
Elvis needs a day or 2 off a week and Kinsler always gets hurt.

and Young will probably get some DH time this year.

A day or two a week?
Hell no
Barring injury I want Elvis playing 150+ games in 2010

Elvis isn't getting a day or 2 off a week
He played in 145 games last season and is probably expected to be able to play at least that many again in 2010. A day or 2 off a week means he’s getting at least 25 games off in the season.

I hope so too
because it means that the Rangers acquired someone that has at least a small chance of being useful to this team next year.

This demotion
probably really raised Eyre’s ire…

Woohoo
He wouldn’t have been on my 40 to start last season, so good riddence. Getting rid of the dead weight. Well done all.
I can't help it. I’m an asshole.
