How much did they pay for it?

BA brought up an interest idea on this in their morning blog post.
The Yankees could pick one of their own guys. Collin Curtis or Kevin Whelan.
Because of timing problems.
They wanted to find a suitor for Bruney, and they also didn’t want to lose whichever guy they didn’t protect. Bruney was a non-tender candidate anyway. For roster size sake, they traded Bruney for the option of protecting another player. If that player doesn’t stick on their 25, then other teams get the shot to get him through waivers, which would have happened anyway if someone else drafted that player. They essentially cleared salary and room with Bruney for the right to protect another of their players.
It’s not likely, but it’s a decent strategy if you’re strapped for 40 room at the protection deadline and have a player you’re planning on non-tendering anyway. They gave themselves the right of first refusal for Curtis or Whelan or whoever else they might want from their system.
interesting
has that happened before?
why wouldnt they just have the nat’s take him and then return him? (or if hes returned does he have to stay on the 25 man?)
Scout: He was a first-round pick right? Got a huge bonus?
KG: Oh yeah.
Scout: Well, he spent a lot of it on milkshakes.
Doesn't a guy have to be run through league-wide waivers before being offered back to his original club?
IIRC, that’s where we nabbed O’Day last year. Mets Rule 5’d him, decided they couldn’t keep him on the 25, put him on waivers, and we claimed him.

I know.
It’s hard to believe that prior to a month ago the club hadn’t won a championship in 9 years. Can you imagine the agony the players and fans must have felt?

It comes from the French word "champignon"
Which is an edible fungus, often a mushroom. They say they are delightful, but never having experienced one, I am not certain and am thoroughly skeptical of their claims.
If Brad Pitt is playing Beane who do you want playing you?
JD: Eddie Guardado.
Heh
Maybe in order to understand mankind we have to look at that word itself. MANKIND. Basically, it’s made up of two separate words “mank” and “ind.” What do these words mean? It’s a mystery and that’s why so is mankind.

Cantu
jonmorosi #Rangers are very interested in Jorge Cantu of the
#Marlins. They’d like to add a RH bat in exchange for pitching.
So...
Holland and Davis for Cantu then?

Why not throw in
Feliz, Smoak, and Jason Richard’s wife while you’re at it?
That's why they call them business sox
No...
Feliz and Smoak are going there for Johnson, remember?

The Rangers have considered Mike Lowell as a possibility to play first base and DH, reports FOXSports.com’s Jon Paul Morosi.
The Lowell idea did not go past the consideration stage, according to Morosi’s source, who said that the current Red Sox third-baseman was “not as attractive as the alternatives.” It doesn’t stop Morosi from proposing a Kevin Millwood-Lowell swap, as both will earn $12 million in 2010. If the Rangers strike out on their alternatives, they could revisit Lowell.
I like how this rumor sounds like we're considering taking Lowell to the prom

Yankees looking to deal Swisher
Really, he would be an ideal target for what we are needing. COF/1b/DH that gets on base and is relatively affordable.

9 M in 2011
career splits (in mostly pitchers parks):

Probably would have to dump Millwood first
That money owed would be a problem

6.75M for next year
That’s probably somewhere in the vicinity of what it would take to sign one of the guys like Dye, Vlad, etc that we have been linked to.

Yeah I don't believe
that we’d actually sign a guy for that kind of money without making another move. I think there’s a reason there’s so much smoke around the Millwood rumors.

Now THAT's something I'd be on board with.
Somebody likely to put up an .850+OPS/.360+wOBA with excellent patience??? I mean, look at the OBP’s man!
