Max Ramirez for Mike Lowell?

Per Jamey:

According to another local report, Texas is working on a deal with Boston that would send catcher Max Ramirez to the Red Sox for Mike Lowell (and presumably a meaningful amount of cash), giving the Rangers the right-handed bat they've been seeking this off-season.

What do you guys think?  Personally, I'm not a big Lowell fan, but if it gives us a better lineup, I guess...  But for Max?  I dunno...

Another question: How much cash would Boston have to kick in for this trade to become viable for the Rangers?

Would not be a fan of this move...

They would have to kick almost all of the12 million he is owed to make it even close to palletable. I really like Max.

lowell

isn’t he pretty much a dead pull hitter at this point? seems like his swing is very well suited for Fenway.

Trade our last hope for a decent catcher?

Sorry, no thanks…

Like I said in one of the other threads,

It feels like selling low on Max.

Look at the comments under Jeff Wilson's blog post on dallasnews.com. What a bunch of rocket scientists.- Keith Law

The last of the three who might've been an above average hitter

I’m really kinda pissed by this.

Only logical explanation I can think of is the Rangers didn’t think he would stick behind the plate. If that’s the case, then whatever. But if they just sold low on him…

Probably too late to truly sell high on him

Ramon Ramirez

Texas was rumored to be interested in Ramon Ramirez according to Newberg. If we are looking at Lowell, it would be nice to somehow get Ramirez thrown in as well.

No.

This seems like one of those rumors that come from the Boston side. Why wouldn’t they give a borderline top-10 prospect for an aging, limited hitter who may or may not have a hip made from medium-sized marsupial.*

*Due to privacy concerns, the constitution of Mike Lowell’s hip is not known for certain.

Prelim agreement on Lowell to Tex for Max Ramirez. Red Sox owners must approve, teams must be satisfied with medicals. Red Sox eating nearly all of the 12 salary …
