USSM and LOL on Rich Harden

The Mariners are the other team supposedly hot and heavy over Rich Harden, and thus, both Lookout Landing and USS Mariner have some thoughts up on him apparently heading for Texas.

LOL's is here, with this conclusion:

An opportunity potentially (we don't know what went on, there may have been nothing reasonable Jack Z could have done) missed here and that the Rangers signed him makes it all the more painful.

And USSM's reaction in one word:

Lame.

Check them out.

Nice little factoid
Harden made the exact same amount of starts (51) the past two seasons as Lackey did.

USS Mariner

I loved this comment- the guy who posted it is a buddy of mine over at Rotojunkie:

I love Zduriencik, but I think this was his first legitimate miscalculation as the GM of the M’s. The deal Harden got was a veritable bargain, and I doubt we’re going to find anyone with nearly as much upside for any less. I’ll eat my words if Z manages to net Sheets or Lackey, but for now, I think missing out on a cheap Rich Harden was a mistake.

And it hurts doubly worse because the stupid Rangers got him. Ugh.

I honestly don't know how he didn't sign with Seattle.

Cooler weather (which he loves), closer to his home, pitcher’s park, Seattle’s great defense (both OF and INF)…It made all the sense in the world for him to sign there.

Maybe

they didn’t offer him a contract. Doubt it but that’s the only reason I see.

I think they offered him one, just not enough.

Seattle doesn’t have the pitching depth that the Rangers do (that sounds so strange) so it may be harder for them to justify doling out 7.5mm for a guy who may not even give them 100IP when their fall-backs are guys like Jason Vargas, Luke French or Carlos Silva

You shut your mouth about Luke French

That guy is a TORP

I think Luke French has a lot of potential. TORP potential.-Dstar
